I tried to search for this topic but I have no idea where the search option is. Sorry if is this question is a repost. I was just curious what everyone thinks about Rajon Rondo? I don't think he is elite player/nba superstar but he is a good player, I just think its a stretch to think he is anywhere near level of any current superstar. And to take it a step further what do you think the definition of an "nba allstar" entails? thanks
all star means your a badass and no matter how little you do you get voted into the all star game (eg tmac)
The only flaw in Rondo's game is his jumpshot. He is great at everything else. He is on the cusp of becoming a superstar, and I think he is the second best PG in the league behind Paul.
Right now, for this year, Nash. He's the better player at the moment. So is Williams. Everyone says that "all Rondo has to do is improve his shooting", but he hasn't done that at all over the past three seasons. He's still an abysmal shooter.
I put Deron ahead of Rondo still. Deron has the whole package, people on this forum just don't give him the credit he's due because of the j*zz. I'd say Rondo is top 5 point guard not quite top 3 yet. Paul, Nash and Deron and Kidd on occasion are still better than Rondo.
To me, the top 5 PG's varies greatly from person to person. But most have these 5 on their list, in no particular order: Nash Paul Rondo Williams Rose
make no mistake - Nash even at the age of 36 is by far the best offensive point guard there is. He makes garbage players turn into all star caliber players. that being said, Rondo isn't half bad himself. What he lacks in offense he more than makes up in defense and his passing is unreal at times. And to the OP, all star just means you get more media attention and popularity votes.
Rondo isn't a superstar yet, but I'd take him on my team any time. It's amazing how people here roasted the guy a couple of years ago and refused to acknowledge how rapidly he was improving. Now someone is asking if he is a superstar.
cough * Devon Harris, Aaron Brooks * cough and then... Rose and then... Rondo, who benefited from playing with 3 premiere teammates on offense
Who are past their prime. Rondo carried that team, and was the reason they made the finals this year.
They will next season. If he continues his progression, Westbrook will get mentioned right up there (close to) Rose. The problem is last season when he went on a incredible streak of games, none of them were on national TV. Also, KD's streak of consecutive 25-point games overshadowed everything, even though Westbrook was the best player on the Thunder for a good chunk of games near the end that streak. It's like he flipped on a switch. Assuming the Thunder get their share of games on TV, people will get to see Westbrook with their own eyes and watch him dominate. There are times he is every bit as unguardable as KD, but his jumper is not consistent enough. One skill he finally learned was how to play the PG position by setting up others and take care of the ball. The poor judgment and silly TOs just stopped. That seemed to coincide with the Thunder dumping Shawn Livingston and getting Eric Maynor.
Pecking order of Point Guards once again. 1) Deron Williams 1A) CP3 2) Rondo 3) Nash 4) Rose 5) Westbrook The rest.
eww no. rondo is not that good. f0r next year, I would take these pgs over him: paul, deron, nash, billups, kidd, rose, brooks for future, i would take these over him... paul, deron, wall, rose, brooks, jennings, collison when the big 3 starts declining a bit more, you'll notice how he won't be the only one left wide open all day.
I can go along with this except last season I'd still put Nash ahead of Rondo. This coming season, I expect that to switch. In fact, I think Rose will pass Nash.
