When I went to LA in May it took about 30 minutes to get from LAX to downtown (where Staples is). That was at 5:45 pm. The thing is that traffic on that freeway pretty much always sucks. You'll want to give yourself PLENTY of time. Have a great time in LA...I'm very jealous. :)

and getting onto an international flight??? Man...that better be like a midnight flight, at least. I don't know the travel time to LAX, but NBA games are around 2.5 hrs and even if you leap into a cab right outside the stadium (d'oh, where are my bags??) you are talking about starting the cab ride after 9:30pm. That flight better be very late, because you can't just run through the airport for an International flight in LAX.

If you are parking at Staples, you might want to ask how long it takes to exit the parking lot as well.

Take the 110 to the 105, exit Sepulveda.

You're lucky...the 110 and 105 should be OK at 10 pm. Abotu 25 minutes or so to the airport, but I haven't flown there since 9-11 so I don't know how long it will take you to get through the airport traffic once you get there.

Hopefully you're not considering a Friday.

Which airline? Could make a difference (e.g., Southwest is in the first terminal). Then again, you have to arrive much earlier for a Southwest flight anyway.

I just heard back from my brother in law (who lives in LA). He says 20 to 25 minutes at that time of night. But you should build in extra time because traffic will be very heavy after the game/event.

    Smeg,

The last 3 times I have traveled on that Qantas flight (post Sep 11) the line up to get through security was huge - it can take as long as 30 - 40 minutes. It is probably much better now. How are you checking in before the game? They don't usually open the check-in until 2 or 3 hours before the flight departs.

Regardless, I say it's worth the risk :)

EMail sometime me and tell me whats up.

I would take the bus or a cab personally. You couldnt pay me enough to drive in LA traffic!! And it doesnt matter what time of day you drive......

    :p
