As I have posted I am a Ron Paul supporter. He is my congressman and I have volunteered for his campaigns in the past. Here are my reasons- He was my wife's gynocologist for several years (he delivered my 16 yr old son and helped my wife deal with 2 miscarriages) I got to know him personally. I worked for his son Ron Paul Jr. for 9 yrs and we became friends and remain to this day. I have talked alot with Rep. Paul about his time in Washington, our government and the issues. He is the most honest politician I have ever met. His character to me is impeccable. I don't agree with everything he says but what I have learned from him has helped me look at our government in a very different way. He cares alot about people, and this country and he has some compelling views on making this a great nation for all people- IMHO. What I like best is he does not bow to any special interest group at all. He will not be controlled, he will listen to people of all backgrounds and he is very sincere, not a hypocrite at all. At least that has been my impression. He has told me alot about the insides of Washington and power in our government that sicken me. I don't know if it is true, but I believe what he has told me based upon my getting to know his character. I have had a few questions about him in other threads so I thought I would start this thread for anyone who would like to post some questions. I will try to contact Rep. Paul personally and submit a list of questions for him to answer. If you wish to pose a question for him please post it in this thread and I will do my best to get a direct response from him and post it here. So if you have a question for him... post away. I will gather them in a few days and call Rep. Paul. This is just an idea see if this works if there is any interest in hearing is answers
if sishir doesnt mind, i would like to submit the questions he posed in the other thread. they are good ones and i havent really been able to find definitive answers to them. based on what i DO know about paul, i think i can assume what his position would be, but it would be nice to get it straight from the horses mouth. is it fair to call him a libertarian? it seems that everything he advocates is based on the constitution, so would that make him a constitutionalist rather than a libertarian?
Feel free to do so. I was going to repost my question on free trade for him. I recall hearing him refer to himself as a libertarian so I presume that is where he sees himself in the political spectrum.
His son is very much a Libertarian and I kind of assume he is, if not strongly leaning that way, but I have never asked that personally, I see him more balanced towards things than a strict libertarian. The idea of legalizing drugs and about anything else is libertarian I think and taking government out of everything also.... I will ask it. Thanks for a list to start with. I really hope this works out.
I'd ask him why on earth is he still a member of the Republican party, now that his beliefs are entirely out of whack with mainstream Republicans.
How would he fight the beaucracy and money that currently controls Washington DC? To me this isn't as much a campaign about Ron Paul, but a campaign to take back the executive branch away from corporate/elitist interests. How doe he plan to fight millions of dollars and probably interests within his own political party? How does he plan to get his message out? He does realize that his policies will make some pretty nasty enemies? I admire him because I would actually fear for my life if I was in his shoes and his campaign did take off.
