Ok I have some questions about Cato's ability, potential, and what you all think of it? Answer whatever you think or know
1.Does he have any potential, or is he just a big oaf who can dunk?
2.I heard he played good defense on Shaq in one game, if he actually tried and made an effort, would he actually be worth his salary?
3.Even if he doesn't have a jumpshot, if he put forth effort would he be valuable to this team? (As a defensive force, rebounder, presence inside, putback points, etc?)
4.Does he know how much most Houston fans hate him, is there any way Steve or someone could inspire him to try and not be a lazy b*stard? If he did try, how good would he really be?
IMO I dont think he could do much offensively (creating scoring opportunities) other than putbacks, free throw line, and O rebs, but how about overall? what do you all think?
Is there any way he could end up being worthwhile, should we all really give up on him, or do you think he might try next year?
I'm sure if he started busting out next year, everyone would be on his bandwagon, but really how much of a chance is there of that happening?

    OldManBernie,

Cato deserves all the accolades heaped upon him by me and this troupe of illustrious posters. He has earned them because of his
consistent behavior and performance over the time he has been a Rocket.

Before this last season started, when we already has plenty of people bashing him, I was arguing to give Cato another season to prove himself. He's had that season. Now, though he has that potential, it's time to give up on him, if we can. I gave him his year and he didn't do anything with it; I'm writing him off.

That's funny because though I despise Cato, he is are only hope at center, and I'm rooting for him still. I still think that if he can stay healthy for a whole season, the Rockets can definitely reap benefits from that dumb investment. Realize that there isn't a lot of centers out in the market. The ones out there in the market are either not true centers or probably won't be able to play more than half the season. I think the Rockets would be wise to hang on to Cato just because he plays center and can physically hang with a center.

    Tozai,
Around here, we affectionately (like we love herpes too) refer to Cato as ...

    [marquee] STONE HANDS [/marquee]

You should of heard Bob Allen on 13 tonight, talking about Cato. He said (and I am paraphrasing it):

"Cato is extremely lazy, unmotivated, and a complete bust, that his own teammates do not like him on the team!"

That hurts, and from a newscaster during the sports report...

    1. No. Just a lazy oaf.
    2. He blocked two of Shaq's shots. Big friggin' deal.
    3. No.
    4. I hope so. Doubt it. Not very.

    Give up on him.

1.Does he have any potential, or is he just a big oaf who can dunk?

Sure, he has potential, heck I have potential. If I grow another feet and gain 150 more pounds, I can stop Shaq. At the same time, he's also a big oaf that can dunk.

2.I heard he played good defense on Shaq in one game, if he actually tried and made an effort, would he actually be worth his salary?

In my opinion, nobody in the NBA is worth their salary. However, I can foresee him playing good NBA defense if he puts forth the work.

3.Even if he doesn't have a jumpshot, if he put forth effort would he be valuable to this team? (As a defensive force, rebounder, presence inside, putback points, etc?)

Sure, it's a fair league, all players are created equal, he has six fouls to give like everyone to hack Shaq. I guess he's a pretty fair shotblocker too.

4.Does he know how much most Houston fans hate him, is there any way Steve or someone could inspire him to try and not be a lazy b*stard? If he did try, how good would he really be?

Of course he does, I'm sure he reads the Chronicle every once in a while, or at least hear of those Cato-bashing articles. Its possible that someone can light the fire on Cato (weirder things have happened before). And no one knows of your last question because no one has ever seen Cato try.

    Hope that was informative.

    Not another Cato thread!!??

I refuse to get reinvolved with bashing the most worthless, selfish, lazy assed, pouting p*** p*** excuse for an NBA player that has ever existed.

This time I'll stay above the fray. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
