    Robert Horry:
How the heck can he not start over that ancient AC Green? That's got to be embarassing. I mean Horry supposedly is a good defender and has always demonstrated a good jumpshot with 3 point range. What's holding him back from starting? The more I write about him, it sounds like we could use him, though I don't see it happening. Just for fun, is Horry a better PF starter than Kenny T? He's probably too old for our nucleus, but Horry does seem kind of wasted in LA.

    Brian Shaw:
How the heck is this fossil who we cut without a second's hesitation getting significant minutes for the NBA Champ favorites? What's the advantage of having all these old, big guards who consistently get burned on D? Is there something in Phil's masterplan that I'm missing? I think Cedelle Threat's available if the Lakers are interested.

    Travis Knight:
Am I mistaken or wasn't he a young center with pretty good potential and a nice jumpshot at one time? Rudy T was saying how he wants big guys with 3 point range; would the Rockets be interested in him? If so, would it take anything to pluck him off the Lakers bench, where he gets all of five minutes per season?

I'll attempt to answer some of these questions.

    Bobby Horry:

Robert Horry is currently in the midst of a 7 year, $35 million contract which he signed in 1997. He will be a free agent in 2004. For those of you who don't know math, $5 million/year for a utility power forward with a history of subpar effort, and not much potential is a bad deal. I really see no use for him. Back when he was with the Rockets, he was around 6'10, 220, and when he played the power forward he was athletic enough to jump over most guys. It seems like most of his explosiveness is now gone in his efforts to add weight (currently 235). I'll take Kenny Thomas over him anyday. Why does A.C. Green start over him? Simple: Horry is too slender to guard most of the power forwards in the Western Conference. Green isn't the player he once was, but he's an improvement over Horry.

    Brian Shaw:

Phil Jackson likes tall guards, (Jordan/Harper), (Harper, Bryant), hence Shaw gets the nod over Derek Fisher (who signed a ridiculous contract this summer). He wants to be able to play his defensive stalwart sg (Jordan, in this case Bryant) on the point guard if he needs to, without giving any size on the shooting guard.

    Travis Knight:

Knight is in the midst of a $22million, 7 year contract which he signed in '97. He doesn't have range, nor does he have potential. He's a hard worker who tries his best to hit the glass. However, there's a reason why he only averages 5 minutes per game on a Laker team which is in dire need of backup big-man help. He's just not that good. He's very foul prone, and he tends to let that get to his head, and mess with his game. Factor that in with his ridiculous contract (Pitino's boys are idiots) and I'd rather stay away from Travis.

Travis Knight plays defense like a rotten stump.
