its Detroit vs Charlotte right now. as you know, Detroit is playing with 8 players...its in double overtime with 24 seconds left. hamilton, mcdyess, and rasheed all fouled out. so they only have 5 players available. darko has 3 fouls, and ham has 4 fouls. what if one of them fouls out, and the pistons have 4 players? is it a forfeit?thanks

I think LB would rather go with 4 players than put Darko in.

    Another tough loss for Charlotte.

I think Indianapolis played that Saturday game against Orando with only 6 players.

no the players just get more than 6 fouls and for each one over 6 they get a tech plus the foul

    That's the NBA rule.

Now what happens if one of the final five players gets injured?
    Forfeit? 4 on 5? 4 on 4?

I think the rule i sthe other team shots a techinal foul shot and then they play with 4 players. I could be wrong but I think thats how it works.

I've actually played with four players once and won. We only had 5 due to suspensions and then our psycho center from Cal got his second technical. This was not unusual. So we had four on five. And we won. The mistake the other team made was putting on a full court press. But our team was so slow athetically that we passed the ball up the court like the celtics and the press gave us open looks from beyond the arc. We hit everything. The other team was so pissed at the loss that one of the players spit on the ref and technicals ensued like wildfire at the end. Good times.

There was one team that was allowed to use the team manager, tho' I can't remember who, and he scored like 5-10 points in the late 80's.

In the NBA, when you get down to 5 players and one fouls out, he stays in the game.

Any more fouls on him result in an added technical foul in addition to the foul that he commits.

If one of the 5 players left gets injured, the guy on the bench who fouled out most recently gets to re-enter the game and can committ more fouls, but will be assessed a T eash time.

It would be possible to have many players playing with 6 fouls-- they would just be vulnerable to getting technicals whenever they foul.

You are not allowed to play with 4 in the NBA.

This rule has been discussed at length by Pacers fans, trust me!

A few years ago Orlando had LOTS of injuries and was in danger of being unable to suit up 8 guys, and so assistant coach Tree Rollins became player-coach Tree Rollins.

What if you are Seattle, and the last player on the bench who has fouled out is Jerome James?

Try to imagine Rasheed Wallace with an unlimited supply of technical fouls. Now that would be entertainment.
