Just thought this might be something to debate?

If the Rockets Organization were to decide to hold on to Tracy McGrady's contract and let it expire at the end of the year in order to pursue a big time Free Agent, and lets just consider that all the big names are available, how large of a contract would Les and Morey be willing to offer?

    1. LeBron James
    2. Dwayne Wade
    3. Chris Bosh
    4. Amare Stoudemire
    5. Dirk Nowitzki
    6. Carlos Boozer

    etc.

My real interest lies in what they would offer LeBron James if they had the option to bid for him and in all likelihood, they will.

Do they throw all of McGrady's expiring money at him? $23,000,000? Do they offer a $100 million contract for 4 or 5 years?

I'm just curious. What do ya'll think?

Just under the max. Thats all we could pay I believe...

Why does it matter? It isnt like we will get one.

    You never know.

Lebron and Wade would be the only two players (other than Kobe) I would give the max and then some. They are the only play makers that will make this team instant champions with Battier, Scola, Landry, Brooks, and possible Yao. This is why Morey should do whatever it takes if at all possible to get them.

We dont really have the leverage for a Wade or James. Why would they come here? Because we have Yao? Because we could possibly win a championship?

I doubt it... a lot of other teams can offer similar experiences with more cash, if im not mistaken.

Chris Bosh would be my favorite player on that list.....I think we would benefit the greatest with him :D

There was a thread made about this topic a few days ago.

Even if they let McGrady go we still won't have enough cap space to offer a max to any of the players aforemented. We'd have to release Lowry and Scola to get enough cap room as resign-ing both will cost double.

bosh would be a good player, but i think we would need a swingman who would probably benefit our team more. ariza and battier wouldn't cut it as far as an outside threat. scola hayes landry and yao would be enough. i know yao has injury problems, but assuming he doesn't, i say we try for wade lebron or joe johnson (if hes a FA that year which i believe he is, correct me if im wrong). i even think dirk would be a better fit than bosh or amare because dirk has that nice outside game that yao can dish out to when hes being doubled teamed. all of those players would make our team a lot better, but i just believe a swingman or dirk would fit our team more imo

No way would Lebron or Wade come here now. I don't know that I would pay Bosh a max contract.

YES! Lets get a PF, when we already have 2 good ones, and lets pay him the max. AWESOME especially when you consider he is mentally tough and a GREAT defender...

Our backcourt will look awesome .... I CANT WAIT!

Our best bet would be to go for Joe Johnson, if he doesn't sign an extension with the Hawks that is.

Scola will be needing a new contract and car landry will be on the last year of his. Our 2 great PFs arent locks for that long.

Bosh is a Dallas native... wouldn't be surprised if he inks with the Mavs.

I would throw Yao and Tmac out there houses to sign LeBron or Dwade. Imagine Lebron with T Ariza and AB all in their primes. Trust me, that's 70 pts from your big 3.

Does the Mavs have cap room? I know Nowitzki is expiring but they will need a lot more than just him off the books, right?

i say go after dwade, pay em the max, he could be our shooting guard for 6 to 7 yrs, im not sold on bosh, but if yao is not right, then u go for him. lebron is not coming here! boozer is injury prone and dirk is not a winner.
