Hey guys, I got into an accident in my Z this afternoon, and the car got pretty messed up on the drivers side. This guy tried to come into my lane, and I'm thinking he didn't see me right next to him, but he would have hit right on the drivers side, so I veered the car out of his way, and hit a patch of ice, and the car went nuts, and after 2 360s hit the concrete divider on the side. The collision was pretty damn hard cuz the entire front axle broke, and the brakes were broken in half and just lying on the road. My glasses flew off into the trunk, etc. and the airbags didn't get activated. So I wanted to ask, is it worth it to bring that fact to Nissans attention, can it get me anything? Or is it basically a moot point, and I should rather not do anything about it and let the insurance take care of it? The car is going to get checked out by the insurance folks and the Nissan auto-body shop on M/Tu, so I'll find out exactly what needs to be fixed. I'm actually hoping that there might be frame damage, so I can get a new one ... but we'll see. The thing that pisses me off is that the dude saw me spin out of control, slowed down for a sec and then he sped off, so now my insurance has to cover everything. That's gonna hurt ... the rate was high as it is As always, thanks in advance.
If you broke the axle and got in a collision on the driver's side, your transmission might be pretty ****ed up too. In which case, you might get the new one you were hoping for.
