I'm an Obama delegate to Saturday's convention. I just received an email from Clinton, thanking me for my (nonexistent) support and telling me I can get in on a conference call with Bill Clinton. Yesterday, I got a phone call from a Clinton staffer trying to get me to change my vote. I told her I was an Obama delgate and felt it would be unethical for me not to represent the caucus goers who sent me to vote a certain way. The caller then said, well, have you heard about Jeremiah Wright. I responded that I had and they were only solidifying my Obama support. They then thanked me and hung up. Is this happening to other people? Are there any Clinton delegates that can share similar stories or is it just a Clinton thing? Even though I was offended at the request, it kinda made me feel like a big shot, which was pretty fun, I guess.
I would encourage you to actually think about Wright's message of hate (and Obama's extended allegiance to it) instead of dismissing it. Look beyond race
Obama's 20-year support of Wright's racism, bigotry and anti-semitism 'solidifies' your support for him? How so?
Have you been hiding under a rock? Obama has dismissed those ideas plainly, and openly. He has extended no allegiance to those ideas. I can't believe you missed that, it's been all over the news, and discussed in multiple threads in this forum. Not only did Obama dismiss those ideas, he removed Wright from his campaign.
Obama has never supported any racism or anti-semitism by Wright, or anyone else. You haven't been paying attention to the news much lately.
I would encourage you to go away. I agree with you, serious. I am a delegate as well and although I have not received any phone calls, I feel that I was selected to go and carry the message of the people I represent at the convention. It is not my job to second guess their decision. To argue otherwise is absurd and insulting. The Clinton people have compared it to being an elected official in that you go and do what you think is right at the time. That analogy is faulty in that we were selected to do ONE primary thing and that is to say that the people that I represent in my district have chosen this candidate. Unless that candidate drops out, it is the job of the delegate to follow that mandate.
Sorry, brah, but 20 years allegiance to the man speaks for itself. He also had Wright on his campaign until he found out how poorly Wright was received by the electorate.
lol I guess 20 years doesn't mean too much to you. Or was Barack "not in church" on the days when the hate was spewed?
He supported it with his actions. Would you say a white person at a KKK rally would be 'not supporting' the KKK if he attended rallies for 20 years, but then came out and said he 'didn't support' them? No of course not. Same principle here. Mulder and seriousblack, I would vote your conscious at the convention. If you disagree with racism, bigotry and anti-semitism, I think the choice is clear.
If anyone calls you, I think you should tell them you're willing to switch over and then really confuse them when it comes time to vote. Make a big speech about how you thought it was unethical, yadda yadda yadda. I suspect both sides are doing this stuff, and it really should stop.
lol, I guess you really haven't been listening. He mentioned that he heard things he didn't like, and has denounced those things. But they were a tiny percentage of the message at the church. But Obama has clearly stated that the offensive statements he strongly disagreed with. Why don't you take a break and catch up on what has actually been said, since you are so ignorant regarding this issue.
There were no KKK rallies. Obama did not support with his action, unless you think the action of denouncing it is somehow supporting it. I wish you would be a little more familiar with what is gone on here, before posting as if you were up to date on what's actually been said, and done.
Well put. They didn't 'elect' Mulder to represent them. They chose a candidate and selected you to convey that decision. If you are uncomfortable with that mandate, you should step down.
Why don't you open your eyes to the fact that Barack exercised incredibly poor judgement by aligning himself for 20 years with a hate spewing rabble rouser? Just because Barack said "oops, my bad" doesn't wipe clean 20 years of actions. If my pastor said anything remotely close to what Wright said many times, I'd be out the door asap. Barack remained aligned with Wright during that time. You are overlooking key facts, FB.
No, I just have been following the story, and have seen what's actually occurred regarding it. You should try it out.
You missed the first 20 years of the story. You should try looking at facts, as opposed to Barack's "oops, my bad".
Oh reeeeeeally? Did he contribute money to the church? Did he name Wright to his spiritual advisory team? Did he ask Wright to bless his house Did he ask Wright to baptize his children Did he honor the church through 20 years of attendance? Let me help you out with the answers there: YES YES YES YES YES Obama endorsed Jeremiah Wright through his actions. There is simply no disputing that. Saying that he did not is just not credible.
