What was the location of the Hong Kong Market that I "need" to go too? I always go to the one by my house, and I believe it was you that indicated there was a much better one.

Also....has anyone tried that chicken place from South America that's located on Bellaire? I drove by there the other day on my way out towards the Asian section of town, and there were cars lined up for a quarter mile on Bellaire. I sure as hell don't need fried chicken, but I sure am curious. Is it worth all the buzz?

There is one located on Scardale, west of the Gulf Freeway. Is this the one? I don't think it's better than the one located close to Belaire and Wilcrest.

It kicks ass. I went there around 3 - I had an afternoon off & was on that side of town - and the wait was only 20 minutes or so. Honestly, it was the best fast-food chicken I've ever had. You get tortillas, beans and salsa and eat it like a taco, or just eat it off the bone. Not sure if I'd wait for 1.5-2 hours though.

    Hong Kong Market

I went with a friend from Hong Kong to a big store at Bellaire @Boone. He identified everything there and was impressed that Houston had a store with that type of selection.

Probably about 4 to 4.5 miles west on Bellaire after you pass Sharpstown Mall.

Major streets that you will pass on your way there.

    Fondren
Mary Bates (not really major, but plenty of wrecks there)
    Gessner
    Corporate
    Sam Houston Tollway
    Wilcrest
    Boone

The store will be in the big mall on the left after you cross the light at Boone.

Okay, I 've seen they have the one at Boone, but citysearch says the one on Gessner is supposed to be the good one. I live right by the one at Scarsdale, so I go there all the time.

I need to find some damn Kaffir lime leaves or my me Tom Kha Gui just won't taste the same. Also, I want to see what the buzz is all about.

I think I'm gonna have to stop somewhere for chicken on the way back. To hell with the wait.

The one that I know of on Gessner is between Westpark & Harwin. There is a Metro Park-n-Ride a block away and just around the corner from the road construction.

If you are going there from inside the Loop........get on Westpark off of the SW Fwy and go west about 2.5 - 3 miles. The Metro facility should be on your left and then take a left onto Gessner. The store will be in the shopping center on your right roughly .5 mile after getting on Gessner. Probably a Reliant/Centerpoint electricity substation nearby also as a landmark.

Pole-Daddy...the Hong Kong Market you "need" to go to is the one on Bellaire Blvd. at Boone Road. It is the biggest, nicest and (very important) cleanest one. I stopped going to the others...this one is a farther drive for me but worth it. It's like an Asian version of one of the huge HEBs. It is unlike any other Asian market I've been to in the city. Enjoy!

PS: I still have not made it to the chicken place. I drove by there at 2:30 PM on a Thursday a couple of weeks ago and there was still a line out the door.
