I have hooked my wii up to a standard definition tv through component cables. Previously it was hooked up to my HDTV and set to 480p. The sdtv cannot accept this signal. I would like to know if there is any way to reset the video output to 480i without the use of the menus because otherwise I am screwed.

If someone has enough time on their hand, they can turn their wii on and guide you step by step as you sit in front of your tv without a signal?

Can you not reset it via the HDTV, then move it to the sd box?

component? Wouldnt that be the reason the sd tv can't use the signal?

Dang, I cant believe I didn't think of doing that.

This is to the guy who was saying that the component cables would not work, they work fine when the display is set to 480i in the menu. I had it set to 480p. Using the regular cables defaults the system to the original 480i and from there all i needed to do was apply those settings and go right back to the component cables.

I'd never tried it, but I did know that the cables that came with it were not component. In any case I wasn't sure what kind of difference component on a standard def tv really made, I just always tend to correlate component with high definition for some reason.

    Glad you got it working.
