Have any of you ever bought a CD, opened up the package, and discovered it was missing? I think this may have happened to me last night, but I'm not 100 percent sure. I bought a couple of CDs and took the wrappers off, opened them up, checked out the booklets, but didn't listen to them. Then I take them with me in the car the next morning to listen to, and one of them is not in the case. I looked everywhere in the house, and couldn't find it. I think this may have happened to me once before some years ago, but I don't remember for certain -- all I remember is having to return a CD for the same CD, but I don't remember the reason, although I think it may have been the same thing. Is this possible? I'm going to have to take the thing back and tell them the CD wasn't in the case, and I'm wondering if they're going to think I'm completely crazy.
Happened to me once Freak. I bought a Peter Green CD that I had been looking for for years. After I got home I opened it, only to find it empty. I was pretty ticked off and immediately went back to that store. They offered my money back or another CD of the same value (the Peter Green CD was the only one they had).
I once knew someone that bought things, opened them, took the disks out, resealed them (he had a shrink-wrap machine just for this purpose) and returned them. This was before CD burners, that is why he didn't just make copies. It is not inconceivable that you were sold an empty case.
I used to work at a Blockbuster Music when they would let you listen to any CD in the store and there were a few times that we would forget to put the disc back in the case before selling it. You could tell if it had been opened before because it would have a different wrapper that was looser than normal.
I bought NBA Live 99 when it first came out for PC and it was missing. The store replaced the game...for half price!
Here is one thats weird, I bought Marvel vs. Capcom at Target, brand new, shrinked wrapped, for my Dreamcast. Came home, opened it, and u know what was inside? A FREAKING CD-R!!!! Checked on the comp what was on it, just a text file that said the title of the game. I was pissed off but too lazy to go back and argue about it becase it was the last one, and I bought it on clearence for like $10.
I never had that situation happen to me. However, I ordered an obscure Bee Gees CD one time from Amazon, and they sent me a CD that was even more obscure than the Bee Gees one! I can't remember if I sent them an email or called them, but they were very nice and apologetic. I had to return that CD to them and then they sent me the correct one (free of course) with no shipping charges and like next day delivery mail or something.
I once bought a cassette single, opened it up, popped into the player and it wasn't the artist that I thought I had bought. It was a completely different song/artist than what was depicted on the packaging. Now that was a bit strange.
