iPhone owners can also join in. 1.) Are you satisfied with your product and was it worth the price you bought it with? Explain whether you are satisfied with the iTouch or not. 2.) How often do you use and how convenient is it for you when you are outside of home? 3.) Should I get it? And which is the cheapest? Thanks if you are willing to answer.
My iPod Touch is the accessory item I use more than any other. I have apps, mainly to pass the time while traveling. I use it for pictures and videos (especially of my grandson). I use it for music and it is especially slick when used in my new car that has the MS Sync setup. I also use it for audio books. I use it when exercising along with my Nike+ shoes. Well worth the price for me. You will generally not find any units on sale. What you pay at Apple, you'll pay at Best Buy. Sam's may sell them for $5.00 less and sometimes Best Buy will give you an iTunes gift card with purchase.
I have an iPhone. [edit: this was posted from my iPhone] 1) I could not be more satisfied, it is the coolest piece of technology I have ever owned. It is the #1 phone in customer satisfaction according to jd power. 2) I use it all day everyday. There isn't much that it doesn't do. 3) If you need a phone and don't mind the 2 year contract, yes! If you just want an iPod the iPod touch is great also. It is only missing the phone functionality I believe.
im out of contract with at&t. what's the deal with the newest iphone? when is it out. for some reason, for the last couple of months, some numbers on my phone doesnt work so im kind of screwed when i text or call a number that is not in my address book. people tell me wait a month, which i guess i can do.
My cousin sells phones for ATT and I am planning on getting an iphone. He told me the newest version with upgraded technology comes out in the next couple of months. It will have better video capabilities and is supposed to be a bit faster on internet stuff. For the current versions there is a huge software upgrade coming out in the next month or so. It is suppose to beef up the current version but the new version will still be better. If you can wait wait. If you don't care get one now.
It's very useful especially if you're around Wi-Fi a lot like at universities. I love it and the million apps it has makes it possible to do mostly everything. I got the retail priced $400 model for around $345 on eBay a month after it came out, 32GB 2nd generation.
in addition to what castor said, there may also be a higher resolution screen. almost definitely a higher resolution camera, possibly with video unlocked. faster processor, more ram. all that jazz. julyish, also iphone os 3.0 will be out around that time as well.
I just went and bought one for my girlfriend. She graduates nursing school tomorrow, and I figured it'd be a cool gadget for her to enjoy. Problem is, only place in my area open this late was Wal-Mart, and they only had an 8 gig. I wanted to get her at least a 16 gig. Instead, I got her the 8 gig and an Itunes gift card. I was gonna start a thread eerily similar. My questions: Is 8 gigs really enough memory for someone who has maybe 500 songs on her other MP3 player, and would probably carry those and maybe an additional 300 or so on the Ipod Touch? How much video could she then store with that? How much do the Apps cost? Should I tell her that I will, if she wants, return the 8 gig and pay the 50 extra bucks or whatever to get double the memory (great deal, in my opinion)?
The phone functionality is so-so - I get dropped calls more than other people around here it seems (or at least from asking). Battery life has improved over the original release, but still isn't "great". The browser functionality on it is pretty useful to me. The apps are pretty good, but I've seen several lock up or just flat out crash the phone to the point I could barely even reboot it. I haven't found a "killer must have" app on it (but then I stick to the free ones... hehe). Most of the stuff I've downloaded are just cheap little games that I get bored with in about a week or two. There are a couple of TDAmeritrade stock trading apps that are pretty convenient that I like. Google Maps has been useful at times. It's not a "must have" phone, but it has its moments. The video and camera upgrades coming in the next couple of months will probably just put it on par with other competing phones already out now in terms of those two functions. Unless there're some massive upgrade in features and functionality added in the next year or so, when my contract is up in July 2010, I'll definitely consider other stuff that's out there since it seems more expensive to use an iPhone than other non-iPhone plans (I think).
Jailbroken Iphone + 6 dollar EDGE connection makes it the best phone out for me. Can't get much better than that. I just enjoy the user interface of the phone and how everything just flows great. Not dealing with menus and a trackball and all that nonsense.
My only problem with the iPhone is you have to pay it monthly correct? Tell me how the iPhone paying works. All I know is the iTouch is sick, I would prefer the iTouch because of the iPhone's weird ways of being paid and all that.
I didn't buy my iPod(got it as a gift) but I've been extremely satisfied with my iTouch. Using Safari is kickass because I can access the internet from anywhere in the house. The app store has some dud games but there are a few worthwhile ones. The non-game apps I rarely use if at all. I use my iPod every day. I am sometimes a net addict so before I got to bed since it's so convenient I check the BBS as well as other sites. Outside of home it's a good media player but that's it. Wi-Fi spots are tricky so don't count on using internet if you are outside.
How is it weird? It's a phone. So you sign up for a phone contract. Anyway, I have the iPhone and I love it. I hardly ever call anyone though since I'm more of a text person when I communicate, but I use the internet on that thing all the time when I'm out of the house. I've paid for a few cheap games and it's a good time waster when I'm not doing anything. The only complaints I have is no copy and paste (though it's more of an annoyance and I think it'll be added in the new ones) and the battery life sucks. I'm always at 10-20% at the end of the day even if I don't play games. I also use the GPS a lot. It's great if I'm lost. All I have to do is go to the Maps App, click current location, and it tells me where I am.
lolwut. you realize the iphone is a phone, right? why would you think there wouldn't be a monthly payment? if you can wait, i would recommend doing so. Dr. of Dunk can tell you I've been starting threads on this topic for the past few months. There should be an iphone update in the summer and an itouch update around september. the new touch update is rumored to be significant.
8 GB is plenty for what you describe, but I'd go with 16 GB for the additional money. THere re tons of useful free apps. Paid apps are mainly 99 cents and go up to $4.99 There are some that are more than $4.99 but not too many. I have 1500+ songs that take up around 4.5 GB. I have 120 hours of audiobooks at the optimum listening quality that takes up around 2 GB. I have 4 hours of video (including 2 full-length movies) that take up around 2 GB along with many photos.
Love my iTouch, especially for when I go out of town. Crossing my fingers that the nano iPhone to verizon rumors are true. I'll be all over it. Want nothing to do with AT&T.
Download the "MemoryInfo" app, it's about $0.99. The reason you're experiencing some of the apps crashing on you is the lack of memory. This program flushes the memory by pushing a single button. It also can show you all the processes running and the percentage of the memory being taken up, similar to task manager. Additionally it will give you the battery life in a percentage form. The reason you haven't experienced a "killer app" is you're only using free ones. That is like saying you've never played a good video game before, but you only download demos. It doesn't work that way.
I work for verizon, I wouldn't hold your breath if I were you. The soonest we could have iphone coverage is 2010. That is at the absolute soonest, and there are plenty of talks regarding apple extending their contract with att.
Also, in regards to the dropped calls: I attribute the recent network problems to AT&T, not the phone itself. There has been a substantial influx of iPhone/PDA/smartphone users; that really stresses a network. I know I try to get my money's worth.
