There's a band/song that I'm trying desperately to remember. The only place I've ever heard it is Numbers. It was a fairly old song in the late 80's. I suspect it was from the early 80's. The only reason I think someone might remember it is because they always played the video that went with it. The thing I remember about the video is that it featured clips from The Exorcist at various points. I realize that's not much, but I'm hoping it jogs someone's memory.

Sharpe and Numan - "Change Your Mind"

That could be the one. The video was pretty freaky. Gary Numan contributed much more than "Cars" to that era of music.

The video (you're looking for) is unavailable on YouTube. There are some versions available of the song, though.

Actually, I just found it. The band was called Vision, and the song was Lucifer's Friend. There's a video on YouTube, but it doesn't have stuff from The Exorcist, although I'm still sure it did when they played it at Numbers.

It is kind of funny, isn't it?

I also found that this song was one of the top 25 most requested songs at Numbers.

I was surprised to find that Cabaret Voltaire wasn't in the top 25. I thought I requested them enough to get them in all by myself.

Although I am about 7 or 8 years too young to have experienced it myself, I love the club music from that era. I like to dig around on the internet every now and then and grab live broadcasts from 93Q, KRBE, and Energy 96.5 from when they would broadcast from 6400, Energy, Decadance, Lizard Lounge, etc.

It's weird that Houston of all places was so far ahead of the rest of the country when it came to club music at that time.

No, it isn't. Check out the history of the drug MDMA, or "ecstasy." Houston, Dallas and Austin pretty much created the drug-club culture in the post-disco years.

I used to do those broadcasts on Energy 96.5, KRBE, from Decadance and was the resident DJ at Lizard Lounge when it was on the Richmond strip. Those were the days!

Holy ****! I used to buy you beers or tip you for requests! My fave was "Pity for Thyself" by POESIE NOIRE. Also requested Smiths and Running up that Hill by Kate Bush.

I totally miss the acid days.

    Small world.

Afterhours club? Lizard Lounge WAS an afterhours club. We didn't close until 7am sometimes 9am in the morning. I did this sober too!

Yeah, I think this was after Lizard Lounge. We used to go to Yaga's then to the after hours club. Something like Club AM?

My memory is shot since I drink a lot of beers.

BTW- I used to request Secret Land and The Bolshoi too. I thank you for that! :D

    I feel so old now.

BTW- I still have many club CDs called "Retro Progressive Mega Hits" from the DJ at #'s that I bought from that record shop off of Alabama. I just looked at one and it cost me $45.00 a CD. It has Sandra, Westbam "Alarm Clock, Twin Hype, Noel, Edelweiss, Real Life, Consolidated, etc. Good times!

That's part of what's weird about it to me. What was so special about Houston? Why not San Francisco or New York for that matter? Or are you saying its simply because Houston was the main city that was shipping in Ecstasy at that time?

Dude, that's awesome! Do you have any broadcasts that you used to do (mp3 or cd)? Or how about any old mix tapes/cds that you did from back then? If so, hook a brotha' up! :)
