Just a quick question for those who might work in HR or have prior experience of this. I've been employed with this company for over 2 years and recently got promoted. Yesterday my supervisor asked for a copy of my University degree for a "company audit." This came completely out of the blue and I've never heard of this happening before. Anyone know whether or not this is normal/standard? Thanks.
I don't know if I could even find mine and I've only been out for about five years.. Seems odd to me that they would ask for it, but it could be normal..
Seems a little dumb and tacky. You could always have an official copy of your college transcripts sent to them if you'd rather. That's honestly what they should be asking for anyway. Evan
Sounds like they may be looking to weed a few people out of the office and will start with the fudgers on their records. DD
It may be that they want to frame a copy for you. My dad's company did that for him when he was promoted to office manager. Edit: If you can't find the original just contact your college.
So we've got two extreme suggestions: - Bad: they're looking to fire degree fakers - Good: they're looking to frame the diploma
It appears it's part of an audit because they're verifying a few other people's info. I don't think it's to frame it for me because I took a pic of it and e-mailed and they were OK with it. Thanks for the responses.
I wouldn't give them JACK SHHHHhhh...QUAT. Unless there's some policy that says they can ask for this. If they didn't at the beginning of the hiring, why now? 1. Am I doing my job properly? 2. Have I ever done this company wrong? 3. Do I whine every time you call me into a meaningless meeting? "Mr. SwoLy, we need your diploma." "Kiss my ass, HR. Show me the policy that says you can ask me for that." "Here it is." "Oh... well... damn... time for SwoLy to start lookin' for a new job. " - Absurd: HR is lazy as hell... I actually LOL'd with your post, Mr. Smokey... LOL!
