I always thought it was "Dunes" from the comic strip.

The Chicken Man delivered for me one game. He scored the last basket, the 135th point got me a free chicken dinner

I think the chicken was from Hartz (Rons)?

I remember the "Chicken Man" legend, but didn't he also have the other nickname?

The first time Dunleavy did it, it made national news. I was at the Ron's where a national news team was interviewing folks. They interviewed me, but it did not make the news. I guess it's true; I have a face for radio.

Dunleavy definitely was the "Chicken Man"... his fast food brother was Billy "The Whopper" Paultz. [IMG]

The reason I asked way because of Dunleavy Jr. A guy from Duke emailed me at my SOR address and asked the question because the Duke students make up chants for each Duke player and they needed one for Dunleavy. They thought trying to find his father's nickname would help.

Maybe we'll hear some chicken chant at Cameron later this year and you'll know where it came from! [IMG]
