I have a smoked brisket that has been in the freezer since May 23. Should I throw it away or is it still edible?

Post some pictures and we'll make an assessment.

just last night i was watching Ripley's Believe it or Not and they showcased a guy who's diet consisted of spoiled food. apparently, he claims by slowly ingesting spoiled foods, his body became immune to the many bacteria that would otherwise cause "clean" food eating people to become sick. makes alot of sense.

that being said, if you're not used to eating rotten food (assuming that brisket is rotten), you may die. it's just a minor side effect. :)

    Is it edible? Yes.

How good it will be depends entirely on how well you sealed it.

Frozen meat will remain edible for about 6 mos. to a year when sealed properly.

Meat gets freezer burned if not sealed good enough and then it'll taste like crap. Ziplocks tend to have air traped inside. Plastic wrap inside a ziplock would probably do the trick. Smoked meats tend to get cured somewhat and last longer...unless it is freezer burned.

Short story, if the meat it covered with ice crystals, it's probably safe to eat but tastes horible.

Can you test how well you "sealed" the bag? You think you sealed it, but it may not be "air-tight". Like fatty and crossfire said, it's probably OK to eat (since you had it cooked and stored not too long), but whether it tastes good depends on if it has freezer burn.
