I am looking for a freeware that can help me convert my video files to Quicktime format (.mov, I think) for my personal player. Any ideas?

Clutch started a thread asking to convert old videos and I suggested SUPER©. I'll look for it, if you can't.

Do you want to put it into an iPod, or something else? SUPER has the capability of converting to ANY video format.

I use Any Video Converter and it's about the most user friendly converter app I've ever tried. I have only used it to convert .avi to .wmv, but according to the site, it can do much more...

I have it and it's great, but it doesn't convert to Quicktime, which is what I need for my Sansa player.

Just dl it, I am trying it out right now. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yeah, it's for my Sandisk Sansa player, which only plays back Quicktime formats. Is there anything I should be aware of when I convert files (e.g. video scale size, aspect ratio, bitrate, etc)? Ideally, I would like to 'shrink' the video files so they don't take up too much space, but not too much that it would completely screw up video quality.

Thanks for all the help, guys...

Oh, hey, no problem... I do this on a DAILY basis (the recommendation).

When you get the QUICKTIME .MOV file format just right after clicking a few options, and a conversion works on your SANSA, you can save that "conversion profile" in SUPER© by right-clicking on the main winder.

I haven't converted into anything else but mp4 for my iPod with SUPER, so I don't know which one will work for your SANSA... I wonder if you can change its settings?

    What model is it?

It's e280. I converted one test file and while it showed up in the video playlist for the Sansa, when I tried to play the video it told me to "please use Sansa Media Coverter" for video files!

I am getting really annoyed with this thing...

Wait a minute... you have to use the SANSA software... and you don't have it?

Maybe that's where we should have started solving this... no?

I don't think I "have to" as long as I use the correct format. Plus, the software didn't come with it and I would have to purchase it online if I want to use it. I am trying to see if there is a "loophole" :)

In the item description, it says that the SanDisk Media Converter "converts most popular video formats (such as MPEG-4, WMV, or DivX) into the MJPEG format playable on the e280"

What's the MJPEG? I thought it was .mov Quicktime files.

I didn't know MJPEG, but now I do. Yeah, I'd suppose that when you wrap an MPEG inside a .mov, they add some code to say "It was made with SANSA's Media Converter" or some other propietary format. :(

    Check this forum out: http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board/message?board.id=view&thread.id=5320

Just try converting it to any of those quicktime or mov or mpeg formats, and rename the file in a descriptive way to know what you used, and try it on your Sansa. Man, if I had a SANSA myself, I could try that... couldn't I?

I did that, none of them worked/were accepted by the device. It's OK, I just got a copy of the Media Converter, hopefully it works/doesn't ask me for a credit card.

    Thanks anyways...

I just downloaded this last week so I could convert the QT movie files from my camera to AVI's. Worked for me.

I just used their Sansa Media Convertor after I got compatability issues.

The sucky thing is that if you decide to use RockBox on your sansa, it won't accept the MOV files. Only MPEG2.
