I just want a straight answer on this, seem to be hearing different things from everyone. If I'm working for a company right now, and I'm laid off, but then immediately re-hired by my boss' other company, how does this affect my ability to receive unemployment if I'm laid off from the second company? I heard you have to be laid off a job you had for at least six months to qualify for unemployment. I've been at my current job for over six months, but if I have to file all new paperwork for a new job, does that wipe away my previous employment history? I was also told that this is wrong, and that you only have to be at the new job for 30 days (in addition to 6+ months at the previous job) to qualify. (Obviously, if I am hired for this new job, I highly doubt the position will last very long). I'd do the research, but I trust you all for a quick, straight answer. Thanks.
http://www.twc.state.tx.us/ui/bnfts/claimant1.html#qualify This should answer everything you need to know. File immediately upon being laid off the first job. That way, if you are laid off from the 2nd before 6 months, you will still have eligibility remaining from the 1st.
it looks like as long as you have reported wages for at least 2 calendar quarters during 4 previous calendar quarters
