I was planning on taking a trip to Shanghai and it looks like my schedule is forcing to me to take 1 of my 2 weeks there during the May 1st May Day golden week holiday. However, I heard it was extremely crowded then and to avoid it at all costs. Anybody with any experience with this? Thanks.
I was told the same thing about being in Hong Kong for Chinese New Year in 2004, however I ignored advice. Yeah it was crowded but experiencing festivals in foreign countries is a much better way to get exposed to culture.
