I'm sorry if this has been discussed already, but I don't have the time to read every thread & haven't read this forum in a looooong time (too busy proposing trades in the GARM ). Anyway, a co-worker & I were discussing the issue of Kerry's Purple Hearts, & the question of how many other soldiers have ever won 3 Purple Hearts, came up. Does anyone know the answer to this question? Also, if there are others, what kind of physical condition were they in as a result of their wounds? Thanks in advance.
I would venture to bet that the number of soldiers who have been awarded multiple Purple Hearts number in the thousands. I believe I read somewhere that Charles Durning was awarded three Purple Hearts in World War II, just for one example. I don't know the nature of his wounds.
