I have EV1 dial up here at home and I also have call waiting. From what I understand if I get a call while I'm online, the call is supposed to knock me offline when it comes in. That's not happening. If I'm online and someone calls, the line just rings and rings and I never know anyone is calling.

Any way to set it up to where an incoming call with knock me offline so I won't miss any calls instead of just ringing and ringing?

I tried calling EV1 and they told me to call the phone company. I tried calling the phone company and they told me "well, it should work. Mabye you should get DSL".

he doesnt want to disable call waiting...if you had actually read his post you would know that.

he wants to be kknocked offline when a call comes in or at least be informed that one is coming in..

I know there is a device which rings when you have incoming calls. If you can pick up the phone and tell the caller that you will call him/her back then hang up within 10 secs, you will not be disconnected. I think that thing costs around $50 and you will need call waiting to make it work. I am sure you can find it on the net.

Or it's a good idea to consider switching to DSL.

Yeah, these call waiting modems are pretty cheap nowadays. I got one for $25 where I live last year. I live in the SF bayarea though and I also have DSL now :)

    Heh, I work for EV1. :D

Actually, it depends on which modem you have in order to disconnect. Some do disconnect and others stay connected while the caller just gets the rings. What modem do u exactly have? and what OS are you running?

Hey, just the guy I want to talk to! I have Win XP and I have a BCM V.92 56K Modem (whatever that means). Any way I can just adjust my modem?

R2K, I downloaded that Pagoo for a trial. We'll see how that works. Thanks.

I would get DSL or an expensive device but it's not really worth it because I only use my home computer on the weekends.
