If Glen Rice states that he is injured and cannot play for the rest of the season, can the Rockets terminate his contract? Or if he decides to retire, is his contract gone or do we still have to pay him? I was just wondering because he is our highest paid player for this season. We really need to get rid of him if he's not going to play. We need another veteran leader in his place...
If Rice is injured for the rest of the season we can't terminate his contract. We would have the same situation as we did with Taylor last year. I'm not sure about the answer to your second question but I think we would still have to pay him even if he retires.
If he retires, we wouldnt have to pay him anything. In a case Like Hakeem....Hakeem is milking the Raps for every dime. Hakeem is acting like he's retired, but wont officially retire. So the Raps are stuck with paying him for a few more years to sit at home and pretend he's retired.
Rice will have to be paid but his contract is gonna be up next year anyways so its fine as long as the cap is concerned.
