Some movies you download arent watchable and it says error downloading codec. Divx player should fix this problem.

DivX is an MPEG-4 compression format. The player is used to play DivX-encoded movies. If you have the DivX codec on your machine other players can play DivX movies, too. If not, just download the Divx player to play them.

Like DoD said you don't have to get the player to be able to play these files, just the codec should work fine.

If you want to but if you just install the codec the movies will play on WMP along with everything else save quicktime and real media files

It is true that once you have the codec, you can use Windows media player to play the video file. HOWEVER, the Divx player is INFINITELY better at playing them. My old computer which I just replaced couldn't really play Divx coded files with any kind of watchability on WMP, but it worked great when I used the Divx player.

Just letting you know. Also, Divx encoded files are about 1/5 the size of regular MPEGs.

    :)
