Can this be done? If so, how? Is there any software I can download to do this?

I gotta get my Phil Hendrie fix at work. :D

    ima,

I had found a website that had all the real audio files for Machina II. I didn't have the tools to convert those to MP3's, but my mother did and she burned a CD of those songs for me!

Seemed like she had to use a program called "Easy CD Creator" plus she had a burner. I don't know if having a burner is that important to what you want to do or not.

I downloaded some extinct software (Realplay does not want this done) to try and convert files a while back. It worked but they sounded horrible. I mean they were absolutely unlistenable. I would search google groups to find the name of the software, I downloaded it with Kazaa but don't recall the name. :(

I ran a google search for "convert real audio to mp3" and got results recommending Streambox ripper. or Wisecroft ripper. Try it.

My roommate in college used to do this -- he used Streambox ripper. It worked really well.

HOWEVER, Real Media sued Streambox and the company had to remove that part of the software. It's still around though. A bit of looking should net it for you. If you have too much difficulty, email me.

Yeah, I tried the Ripper (sounds like a fart) and it didn't work. I guess it's not supported anymore. I know there's something else out there because my brother has done it before.

I'll try some of these suggestions when I get home. Thanks, all.

here is a ghetto...but effective...free way to do it. well almost free. go to radio shack and get one of those wires that looks like a headphone plug on both sides. plug it into your mic in and speaker out. play the stream through whatever streaming player you have and then record it with any freeware wav recorder.

I konw a kind of software can solve
your problem. Its name is "Streambox Ripper".

You can download it from this site.

But it is a Chinese website.

OK, I downloaded this thing. It says to "drag" the audio file and drop it in. So I drag my real audio file and drop it in and it keeps telling me "unknown file format". I saved the real audio file to a folder on my desktop and when I try to locate it using the "load" function on the ripper, it doesn't show up.

    A little help?
