    This game was the Rockets to lose--and they did. They played with intensity and their awesome shooting shadowed their lack of defense.....

    and then 4th quarter hits.....

    i haven't had time to post here as much and i've been living in austin so i don't catch every game but i'm glad i watched this game--for better and for worse.

    the rockets had me convinced that this is a brand new rockets--the 1st 3 quarters was great--great hustling, great shooting, great ball movement. then 4th quarter hits. they fell back into their comfort zone of isolation and each getting 'his own'. i, quite frankly, don't know why they put yao back in when they didn't even use him.

    yao could have easily erupted for a 40 pt night tonight if he ever got the ball in the 4th. he was guarded by najera....friggin najera. i just don't understand it. i still love the rockets but i hope this game will be a learning tool for the team.

    IIRC Dallas went on an 11-0 run against our best group after we tied it at 62 in the third. Not just the fourth was a problem.

    I have to say that I completly agree with you. I will also add that I think Rudy got out coached. I hope our team learned from this game. I hope we come to play against the Wiz.

    and i'll just add on to my rant.

    things that are worth concerning (remember i don't watch all the rockets games cuz i'm in austin so bear with me):

    1. Griffin's hesitency-is it just me or did he hesitate to drive in on like 4 or 5 possessions? IMO, griffin can put up 17 ppg if he wouldn't be so hesitant.

    2. NO DEFENSE- i really hope that the mavs were just that good and that the rockets' D weren't just that bad. they need a bruiser on the team.

    3. Iso iso iso- clearly down the stretch in the 4th it was every man for himself. they went away from their passing (which was successful in the 1st half) and went back to the predictable and low percentage isolations.

    4. 3pt shooting- far too many misses.

    5. Ming- granted i KNOW this is only ONE game out of 82 but this game should be a window towards the future. if he can produce half as much with a decent center on his back then it's all good. but he can't produce if they don't get him the ball.

    </rant>

    How was this the Rockets game to lose? Dallas lead the majority of the game, and a good part of it by double-digits. The Rockets didn't choke, they were out gunned. Dallas had to many weapons, and those weapons were clicking. I'm trying to figure out how Rudy got out-coached, he did everything he could to slow down the Mavs big three and give the Rocks a chance and I think he did a great job. Rudy did a great job of teaching the guy to break down a zone, the Rockets just went cold and Dallas stayed hot.

    Interior defensed had collapse and not to many good shots on the 4th. It took 6 minutes in 4th when RT put Yao back on the floor.

    But Dallas felt Yao Mings presence on the floor. Yao will improve into more versitile player in years to come.:)
