The soundtrack for the movie Dead Man Walking Hadn't listened to it in a while, but pulled it out this morning and can't take it out the computer. What a superb soundtrack from some sensational artists, including Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Johnny Cah, Suzanne Vega, Patti Smith, Lyle Lovett, Michelle Shocked, and Eddie Vedder with the late great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. All tracks are brilliant and perfectly match a brilliant movie. If you haven't heard and you like quality go anf buy it now. Also hit me with your favourite soundtracks. Some of my other favourite Soundtracks include: Fever Pitch- english soccer movie with some great english 70s/80s music. Priscilla Queen of the Desert American Pie End of Violence- crappy movie, great soundtrack. ------------------ "What is it with this girl, has she got beer flavoured nipples??" - Heath Ledger in 10 things I hate about you
The best soundtrack comes from the best movie, of course...Pulp Fiction... Jammin' instrumentals (Misirlou, Comanche, Bullwinkle Part II) R&B (Jungle Boogie, Let's Stay Together) Modern Rock (Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon) Oldies (Son of a Preacher Man, Flowers on the Wall, You Never Can Tell) And, of course, Samuel L. Jackson reciting Ezekiel 25:17 before blowing somebody away... ------------------ If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding!!
Soundtracks - good question. I don't really buy them but the Matrix was outstanding. Even better, what about film scores? All that music behind the film: Stargate American Beauty - Thomas Newman composed it - Check out his credits at IMDB.com - unreal. Toys (horrible movie, great score) Taking Care of Business (another bad film with great score by Stewart Copeland and Stanley Clarke) ------------------ The way to use life is to do nothing through acting, The way to use life is to do everything through being. - Lao-Tzu [This message has been edited by Jeff (edited January 08, 2001).]
A-Train, yeah good called both Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs soundtracks and excellent and very much a big dose of fun on the ears. Jeff, i reckon you love dead man walking, it is produceed by Tim Robbins. Smeg ------------------ "What is it with this girl, has she got beer flavoured nipples??" - Heath Ledger in 10 things I hate about you
Good soundtracks? Like Jeff, I don't buy them often, but here's some that I like: "Purple Rain" (Um, HELLO!, the best soundtrack ever, IMO) "Good Morning Vietnam" (Good movie and good soundtrack, although that's a pretty easy genre to pick from) "Forrest Gump" (Great movie, good soundtrack, again easy pickins') "The Doors" (Awesome movie, and great soundtrack. If I'm not very much mistaken Val Kilmer sang {which is pretty amazing} while the other members of the Doors played for him on the soundtrack) "Dumb & Dumber" (My sister bought it, and it was pretty good) ------------------ My Rocket Page [This message has been edited by DREAMer (edited January 08, 2001).]
While MI:2 would hever have what's called a 'great' soundtrack...it had a few original songs, and the music fit pretty good. Too bad hardly any of the music was actually IN the movie. ------------------ Who's ya daddy?
"Shaft" -- THE ORIGINAL ONE!!!! Jeff, I'm assuming you know Stewart Copeland was the drummer for The Police. Hopefully he'll sit back behind the set sometime soon on one of his compositions! ------------------ Nuggets4 The Pinnacle - Rising to the Top With the Denver Nuggets http://www.NugsPinnacle.com
Nuggets: Oh, yeah I know about Stu. Actually, the vast majority of his compositions for film are done with percussion instruments. Even the keyboard parts are done with vibes or instruments that sample different sounds but the note comes from striking a pad with a mallet. He has done quite a few film scores and television stuff. If anyone remembers the television show the Equalizer back in the late 80's, he did the music for that. Also, just about anything Danny Elfman does is great. He was in Oingo Boingo and now is one of the most sought-after film composers out there. Most everyone here knows him as the guy who created the theme to the Simpsons, but he's done scores for MIB, Sleepy Hollow, A Civil Action, Scream II, Goodwill Hunting, etc., etc. I never saw Dead Man Walking but I've heard the score is very good. I would encourage anyone who hasn't really listened to a film score to try it. Think of it as classical lite. It is usually pretty interesting stuff. ------------------ The way to use life is to do nothing through acting, The way to use life is to do everything through being. - Lao-Tzu

Well, the most recent soundtrack I bought was for The Music Man (the only musical I've ever actually liked), but there have been other soundtracks I have liked. One that I really liked was the soundtrack for The Firm. I liked the piano work by whoever did the score, and it had a Lyle Lovett song (which is always a plus in my book). ------------------ Houston Sports Board
the soundtract to the movie "GO" is just plain awsome. there is really only like 2 songs that I skip. it is a part of every road trip i go on. ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball http://www.hanta-force.com
I've never seen anything come close to the Last Action Hero Soundtrack. It is amazing. What makes it so good is that most all the songs were brand new, and they are still all great. It's funny, because the movie was just awful. It's got new tracks (at the time they were new) from AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Queensryche, Tesla, Anthrax, Megadeth, Cypress Hill (I don't usually like rap, but the song ("**** the Hammer") is great), Def Leppard, and a live version of "Dream On" by Aerosmith with an orchestra. Pole -- the song "The Witch" by the Cult on the Cool World soundtrack is great. ------------------ "I have to say I don't understand why the Rockets' fans are booing Scottie." -Calvin Murphy Drunk posters unite.
