have had good experience with groovy automotive, they treated my younger sister, who is a girl student well and gave her a fair price on the work she needed done
I live north of lake Travis and used "buddy's under the hood" in cedar park. Buddy just closed his s hop and joined computer age automotive also in cedar park. Just had them do a bunch of work on my wife's vw and was pleased with the service and price.
I had a great experience with Riethmeyer's near MoPac and Parmer. They directly told me that the quote I had from a dealer was full of lies and that they could do the work for a fraction of the cost. The quality of work was also very good. To me, honesty in a mechanic is half the battle and Riethmeyer's has that in spades.
daves ultimate automotive is really good. they used to be in south austin so i went to them, but they moved to just north of the triangle.
I've been using automotive specialists and the seem real good and honest. But they are out on 290 past the Y
I have a vietnamese guy who owns his own shop near Lamar and Rutland. Real honest and can fix anything. He spent a few year refurbing cars for carmax. Let me know if you want his number.
Yost on North Lamar is pretty good. They rated #1 in an Austin Chronicle poll asking "Best Car Repair?" Something like that. We used to use a small shop on West 6th that lost its lease a few months ago, and have used Yost since. No major complaints.
Austin's Alignment & Brakes on Burnet is a good place that I've recently had some experience with. A little pricy, but they do good work. If you're more central, Gene Johnson Automotive on Manor is the best there is and Gene 'ME' Johnson on Airport is almost as good.
