On the ESPN show "The Life" they followed Q & DMiles around and it happend to be draft night. Richardson talks about Ming's Olympic stats, laughs and says Ming's gonna be a bust. I know Q is not a scout so he may not realize those stats were from 2000 when Ming was 19. 10 & 6 v. Zo when youre a teenager is pretty good in my opinion. Its funny b/c he ws interviewed about Ming before the draft b/c he had seen him play in person and he had nothing but good things to say about Ming but when he with his boys the hate comes out. I wonder what his true opinion on Ming is? (Not that it really matters b/c like I said earlier, he's no scout so he's not in a position to judge talent, espically when his boy Miles is one of the most overhyped players I've ever seen).
I like when Caron Butler got picked and said he would make every team that didn't pick him pay, Richardson was supporting that. Didn't the Clippers not pick him? I know they don't need him, but still. Wasn't it weird that everbody in the room seemed suprised that Houston picked Ming?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't agree with Q but he is not an expert. We will soon find out.
Maybe Q has been drinking and throwing midgets through windows with Barkley. Or maybe he has been driving cars with Kenny Smith. In any event it is clear that he doesn't like Ming because he did not go to an NCAA school and he is not black. Sounds like the hating Barkley and Smith were handing all of the foreign players drafted on draft night.
stylez, wrong. Q had said that at the exhibition, ming was nothing special, didn't look like a shot blocker, and when he and and his boys play ming..they're taking bets on who will dunk on him first. Q's straight dissing ming before he's played against him. it's just racism. hey..what can you do.
I wonder how the question was frased that made him give that kind of answer. A lot of times I blame the reporter looking for a story.
Mentioning the Olympic stats is silly. After all, if you judged Gasol by his club team #'s, you'd have figured he would bust.
New name for Ming-Griffin paint - "the beauty parlor". Free facial. "Spaulding" logo expertly applied. Q can beat his fists on that.
Well, if anybody knows what overrated players who turn out to be busts looks like, its probably the clippers. Though they usually figure it out too late. I just didnt realize til now that they also dismiss talented players berfore even seeing them. So any comments coming from them are pretty useless until they actually show all that potential they have is good for something. Besides, I'm glad "Q" and his buddies are concentrating on trying to dunk on Ming instead of what they need to do to win games. Ming will make a bigger impact on this league than um...what's his name....he's so forgettable...that richardson guy...
Obviously playing for the Shanghai Sharks doesn't earn you much street cred. Yeah, I remember all that from Q. He attended the Ming workout and blasted the guy. The truth is, Ming said after the workout (paraphrase) "I wondered why he (Carlesimo) only had me facing the basket, didn't ask me to show my post game." And Ming had just flown in, 15 hour trip, and had not slept the night before (nerves)... Q will find out about Ming being a bust when Ming "busts" Q's a$$ driving for a dunk.
I like Q. Rich............there's much talent there, though I can't wait to see his shots get rejected this season by Ming.
I got an impression that the majority of NBA players who have spoken out gave Ming low remarks, while most coaches and scouts are in favor of him. Just an impression. If it's true, does that mean something? Those players are actually the ones who are battling on the court. Their thoughts matters, imo, because theirs are more purely based on PLAYING bball, not like those of GMs' or coaches' who worry about tickets/commercial sale and other stuff, in addition to pure bball. Just my 2 cents.
In early May most of the GM's were talking honestly about Yao Ming's skills and what he brings to the table; because they all deep down inside thought they had a small chance at picking him in the draft before the lottery. For that TV segment on "The Life", Q was with his boys at the crib clearly aware of the cameras, and he made a comment that the CBA is nothing compared to the NBA or that if he was being abused by power forwards in the Olympics in 2000, what does that say about his chances of success. I personally don't remember him commenting that Ming would be a bust, but who cares because all the Clippers know how to play is streetball and Q is not the expert analyst to place one's stock on.
Ming has more skills than he showed in the Chicago workout.I don't think Ming can block as well as Griffin but he did block Vince Carter and Gary Payton at the Olympic Games. Q Rich and his buddies will find that out in time.
