IS tibet in you top 5 of political issues right now ordered by importance?

Seems most of the threads here are either about tibet or end up talking about Tibet and its not just chinese posters.

For me its not in the top 10 of crap I care about, but if it is in your top 5 then please list your 5.

does anyone actually look at the polls?

plus I guess if someone does care I would rather them list their priority instead of just say yeah I care.

Yeah, I'll click on threads I wouldn't otherwise bother reading just to see the results of a poll.

As for Tibet, it'd be big for me if I were voting in China. As an American voter, not so much.

No, Tibet is not one of my top concerns at the moment.

Tibet is not in my top 100 issues that I care about.

I do read the threads to enjoy the SamFisher sino-baiting, though

    no,

but i like dropping all this knowledge on them like enough bricks to build another great wall. Richard Gere, Rick Astley, Star Trek, Dave Matthews

Its awesome taking some ultra-sensitive non-Rockets first fans to school!

its funny watching idiots go in a panic mode to google all this stuff. Especially Richard Gere, that was awesome. Drop that American Gigolo on their azz.

You care about crap?? I've got some dog poop you could clean up in my backyard! :p ;)

Top 5? Sorry, but I can't make a list that short. I'm interested in a host of things. Just the items under "America - Misc. Serious Problems" would be a heck of a lot longer than 5 items. Then you have an endless number of political things related to the election that I care about. From there, foreign affairs could take up quite a bit of my time. I'm interested in Pakistan, which I discuss outside of the board with a member who has interests as broad as my own and is no doubt smarter than I am. (I owe him several e-mails!) There's the Middle East (been there) and certainly not just Iraq. Europe fascinates me and I've traveled there extensively, so I'm always looking for stories of interest there. South America is coming up on the radar screen. Brazil may have discovered the 3rd largest oil field in the world, recently. Stay tuned. Asia, South Asia (besides Pakistan), and the Asia/Pacific area (which is Tibet in? I would think South Asia, but others would disagree!), the terrible situations in several parts of Africa...

And you want only 5? Not from me! Maybe a "top twenty,"but don't ask for a list. I will say, however, that Tibet has held my interest for at least a few decades. I'm no expert, but I've been to India (Thailand and Hong Kong, as well, along with Japan and Tehran... I've almost got it surrounded! ;) ) and my Dad spent 2 summers in what was West Pakistan and one in what later became Bangladesh, which fueled my interest. I'm sure visiting the area that is at least "ballpark" when it comes to Tibet helped keep me checking the news over the years.

Then, there is Shangri-La . A great flick made about the mythical place in the '30's. Have you seen it?

Obviously there are more issues than 5. MY question was if you made a list (which can be of any length you want) would it be in the top 5.

I'm not sure if I'm breaking these down and classifying them in a satisfactory enough manner.

    1. Iraq War and ending it

    2. preserving and reversing the trend of eroding our civil rights/maintaining the constitutional checks and balances on the executive branch

    3. Tie between getting national healthcare and restoring a little moral high ground for the U.S. internationally

    4. Economy- specifically national debt/ultra weakened dollar

    5. The war on terror and fighting terrorism

I understood that. I just think the question stems from a typical American desire to quantify extremely complicated issues and create a "scoreboard." My long post was designed to illustrate how crazy that idea is. At least to me.

It seemed like you were just naming some random situations in other countries and how you had either been there, read about it, or exchanged emails with someone about it.

kinda important to identify priorities when voting i guess, but i think scoreboarding things is more typical sportsfans than typical americans.

anyways, i will take both of your posts as meaning that tibet is not in your top 5 issues.

Not even close! China could wipe out Tibetans tomorrow and it STILL won't be "Top 5" for me. OK, that might be a slight exaggeration, but you get the point.

In fact, I don't think Tibet would make the "Top 5" list of issues lingering between the U.S. and China.

It's far from a top ten worry of Americans, but it is relatively interesting discussion involving some passionate posters with a completely different take on politics and society in general. It's also a story with potential to become very explosive as the Olympics edge closer -- China isn't handling things all that bad right now, but one misstep could set off a firestorm.

    my top five.

    1) get a good job and move out of my parents' house.
    2) how to afford expensive electric guitars without any money.
    3) how to eat good food without paying too much.
    4) how to get more taxes back from the government.
    5) how to make more money and make more donations.

so ya, the only thing i really care about is the economic. we need to get out of this slump fast. :D
