Every 15 minutes around the world someone on a message board is banned for PWI (posting while intoxicated) in an alcohol related posting mishap. This is a reality that the moderators and administrators of clutchcity.net know only too well. An alarming number of these bannings are teens.

this july 4th, RM95 and rockHead team up to bring the message that "PWI Bans" to local teenagers and community members.

"Many times teenagers will make the decision to take a drink during this time of year, maybe with their peers at the Prom or at the beach," said one moderator. "At this time in their lives, they are most easily influenced by those they think are friends. They also tend to think that they are ‘grown up.’ Unfortunately," the board officer continued, "they often find themselves in a situation where they have no control, they make bad judgements, and all this combined results in a posting tragedy."

"Every spring, thousands of new users are snuffed out on what they think is the most important night of their lives," explained a moderator. "Sadly enough, prom night -- in far too many cases -- is the last night many of these huge nerds will ever post again. One bad decision, the youthful confidence that they are indestructible and invincible, and -- with the screeching of the keyboard and horrible collision of finger against plastic -- it’s over.

"user has been banned for the following reasons:"

The survivors’ lives are also inextricably changed forever by the guilt of ‘what if?’ and perhaps by the grief of losing a fellow poster they cared about so needlessly."

I sleep better at night, when I sleep, knowing that a small cadre of BBS veterans are doing what they can with this dreaded problem amongst us. Their devotion to duty brings a tear to my eye (or was it the smoke?). PWI is a scourge, and your heroism is an inspiration. Thank you.

I post drunk all the time. I just don't tell anyone when I am.

Does that explain a few things? :D
