okay so i was pulled over by the cops today for my "tinted windows", thats what he told me. my question is when they take your license and run it what exactly shows up?
I think if you have tickets (parking, speeding etc) and if your license is expired etc. those sort of things. I got pulled over by the cops once, i sort of forgot to put my lights on , I have to say that i did think it was pretty dark on the road. but it was 4 o'clock after we went got back from a bar.ofcourse the cop thought i was drunk. So he asked me if I had been drinking, and everybody in the car laughed at me(since i do not drink alcohol). So i said no, but he didn't believe me(because of my friends laughing),So i did a breath test, and i showed i hadn't been drinking, so the cop said: He you Haven't been drinking(he was very surprised). So I replied: I told you so . Finally he let me go, with the comment that i should turn my lights on. p.s. What are you afraid of will show up
I also got pulled over for illegally tinted windows before on one of my previous cars. After the cop realized I wasn't a bad dude, he just let me go. Another buddy of mine got pulled over b/c he had a light tint on his front windshield, but they made him take it off eventually.
The validity of you license and any outstanding warrants are the big ones. Other information like all of the stuff that is written on the front of your license too.
I got pulled over, and subsequently ticketed, for "excessive window tinting" in 1992 (in Austin) by a motorcycle cop. The cop sped off on his bike and I immediately wrinkled up the ticket and threw it out the window (ahhhh...to be 22 again!). Two years later I was pulled over for speeding and they ran my license. They arrested me for an outstanding warrant. Excessive window tinting. True, but sad story...
Yep, think your right, warrants being the big one so they know whether they'll need to take you in or not
With all due respect, what did you think would happen? You can't just throw away a ticket and pretend it never happened without repurcussions. I would have expected nothing less in that situation. All you did was get yourself arrested for no good reason.
I know it was my fault, but it's still pretty hilarious (years later) to think that, ultimately, I went to freakin' jail as a result of tint that I didn't even place on the windows (and my own 22-year-old naivete). I'm sure I was h!gh at the time as well...
Well technically, if you do it in a county your likely to never drive through again, you can get away with it. Doing it where you live is a sure way of getting arrested.
No doubt. You suspicious. . unless they like you/in a good mood/ or high themselves . . . Rocket River
i was being partly tongue in cheek, but partly not - if you havent noticed the ramped up police state over the last few years you havent been paying attention.
When I had really long hair (1988 - 1999), I got pulled over a LOT, particularly after gigs on my way home or out in the country on the way to Austin or wherever. I got searched multiple times. One jerkwad out nearly Smithville (I think - it was close to Bastrop) actually made me pull all my gear out of the truck in the middle of the night - amps, guitars, everything - and then left me on the side of the road in the pitch black to clean it up when he didn't find anything suspicious. I have always know police officers and most of them are good guys and I respect the job they have to do. I've told them some of my being searched stories and they grimace knowing how stupid some of their fellow officers can be.
I always thought that too, but as I was passing through Luling (I think) late one night on a road trip, I was pulled over for a busted tail light (seriously). A warrant showed up for a ticket that had paid in Brownsville years before...I had to pay the ticket and straighten it out when I got back to Brownsville...
The other night I left a bar to head back out to the woods where I live. Right when I pulled out a cop got behind my car (he had been waiting in the parking lot of a mexican food place across the street). He pulls me over for my license plate frame partially obscuring the word "Texas" on my license plate. Put me through the tests and eventually let me get on my way after writing me a warning for my license plate frame. Freakin' rediculous. I can understand if I had displayed signs of being intoxicated while driving but I didn't. Talk about infringing on my rights... Later, Brock
