I have a PS3 and hook it up to my older (2005) HDTV. I think it is 1080i. Well after a couple weeks I got a HDMI to DVI cable to hook it up for max resolution. (my TV has only a DVI hookup). well when I hooked it up and change it to HDMI output I could tell the diff instantly. But the prob is the picture seems to be slightly wider than my TV and my TV is a widescreen. Someone told me to get a component video cable for the PS3 and that would make the picture better fit the TV and still be 1080i. So I got one and not I plug it in and can't get the PS3 to convert to the component output. I go to the options and do the component option and it goes blank for 30 secs and then just goes back to HDMI. Cand you help me? Does that seem right about the component making the picture fit?
Might be an issue with that particular TV because component should at least work. What model is the TV? Ill check ps3forums.com, or you could create an account there yourself.
