I love video games, but I have minimal knowledge when it comes to the gaming "culture" and stuff nowadays. I still play occasionally on my PS2 and occasionally play with my friends or cousins on the XBOX 360 , but other than that I'm a noob. Now with actual time to waste and money to "waste," I'm planning on buying a new video game system So now I have ask the Clutchfan-nation this important question: PS3 or XBOX 360? I do like games like the COD series, Halo, etc, but I also would like a chance to continue playing some old-school games that I've yet played (but own) like FF9 (I believe the PS3 has the capability to play some old PS1 games too right?) . I would also like to buy some internet connection so I can play online and stuff, but I"m still a noob on things like that too. So with that in mind, which one should I get? And whats the best (ie cheapest) place where I can get it? Thanks
inb4 nerdy fanboy flame fest. Both systems have their pros and cons, what it boils down to usually is money. If you have the extra $100 to spend, get a PS3.
I play online for the most part, and 360 has a much better online component I also hate the PS3 controller and love the 360 achievement system among other stuff
current playstation network "issues" aside...ps3 is the way to go. you're kinda late on this generation of gaming consoles, but as it seems, the xbox is believed to be on the down slope while the ps3 has just peaked in terms of tapping into its potential of the technology. for that reason ps3 is expected to outsell xbox until the next gen of consoles come out. not gonna lie, i might be buying into some advertising efforts, but it seems ps3 game offerings (specifically the exclusives) are starting to get better than those on the xbox
It depends on what you're into. If you're into online gaming, I'd get the 360, since their online experience is better (nobody I know complains about the online fees, so I guess it offsets the price). I like the controller better as well, and the removable hard drive is nice. In my experience, PS3 is more powerful and less prone to crapping out on you. It's an all-around better built machine. And the built in Blu-ray player is always nice. I haven't really enjoyed online play, even before this hacking thing, though it may just be that my connection is bad in general. Some of the PS3 exclusive games look absolutely stunning though, compared to anything I've seen on Xbox. And of course, there's the Wii, which gets the most playtime from me. I'm a social gamer though, and not really big into online gaming, so it's not really a surprise. Plus I love Zelda and Super Smash Bros. so frikken much.
PS3- BluRay, Free Online services, Better Japanese-made game library 360- Better online play which you have to pay for, but pubescent teenage boys screaming profanities at you in a mic is free. Better 'American' style games- FPS, blood and guts. Hardware alone, I go with a PS3.
Xbox 360 Better games. Most developers build games off the Xbox 360 software and then port it to PS3 afterwards. Online play is consistent, I haven't had downtime in months, if not a year. Can't say the same about PSN. Of course it all boils down to personal opinion.
The New Xbox 360 is rock solid, no breaking down. Blu-Ray....please. Not with Netflix and other video download options on the xbox. PS3 more powerful? In Theory, however, there has not been ONE multiplatform game that has been better on the PS3...not one. BTW...the 360 has outsold the PS3 in the US every month for over aYEAR. Also, Kinect option for the 360 DESTROYS playstation MOVE. Xbox Live is SO MUCH better than PSN, its not even funny.
BTW...it is worth $60 a year for a ROCK-Solid network that has never been down for more that a few hours in its History. PSN been down for how long now? Pushing 3 weeks.
