Been kind of busy, but I read this today and felt like I had to post it. Credit to Crisis from NeoGAF: Was kind of skeptical on how they could improve on LBP, but this seems just as ambitious as the original...maybe even more so. Shipping this year too...according to the magazine anyway.
Some screens: Taken from: http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/ent...e-the-power-in-LBP2-mdash-and-lots-of-it.html Mostly has the same info as above, but I missed this: Some sites have scans from GameInformer, although some include the ones I just posted.
Who cares if they're bullshots? Especially if they just have extra AA (game will likely look 99% like that, especially if they're using AA tech from devs like SSM). The important part is what the screens are showing. More screens (seem like captures from a video...which maybe we'll get soon, maybe tomorrow): Spoiler Plus a couple more out there. But maybe just better to wait for the video.
I care, I hate screenshots. Every dev using bullshots and it is annoying, I prefer watching videos to get a better idea. LBP looked good anyways so LBP2 can only look better. My post probably came off as bashing as opposed to me just being a little disappointed.
Never understood what kind of game LBP was from the commercials. Is this just some puzzle game? Never played it.
Yeah, it is a puzzle game. And a platformer. And a shooter. And a music player. And a...um...calculator? It isn't really any one genre. They basically give you a lot of tools, and then see what kind of levels you can make with it. A coop platformer would probably describe it best (that's what the main levels in LBP1 were), but the gameplay it offers is pretty unique (play Tetris, ride a rollercoaster, etc.).

Just got around to playing the 1st one about a month ago. If they make if it will be more than just plaatforming, might have to get this when it is released
It amazes me how many people love to spend countless hours building levels. I didn't love LBP 1 but it was unique and well made. I got it mainly because of the raving reviews and partly so that I had a game to play with my female friends and non-gamer friends. It would be interesting to see what the age/sex/geographic demographic is of the people who only PLAY and those who also BUILD levels. That being said, I'm def. going to buy LBP 2.
+1. I pre-ordered LBP1 due to the hype around it and played through the levels with my roommate and it was a blast, but I never got interested in the level-building although I thought I would. It just seems like a ton of work to create levels that are on par in quality to some of the ones out there. I still put it in once in a while to check out the new levels that have been built but I've lost some of the original excitement over the game. That said, though, this trailer has re-invigorated my interest and I'm definitely getting LBP2 when it comes out.
Just watched the trailer. So awesome. Also, confirmation that they're using MLAA...I'm not even sure the 100% original pictures were bullshots (GoW3's MLAA did a good job of getting rid of jaggies). Though I'll admit I can rarely tell the difference between great AA and bullshot AA, especially at lower resolutions. edit: Also, mouse and keyboard are in for designing levels. And Stephen Fry is back I think.
