Turned it on just now and nothing is coming up.

The tv is receiving a signal (since its not flashing the no signal message) but the screen is just blank. Black.

Does the Ps3 heat up?? I've only had it for a month or less now. Its in a cubby like hole. But no closed off to circulation.

    Any thoughts???

Try holding down the power button when you turn it on and wait for a beep. Your av settings might have changed somehow. Holding it down will do an autodetect for the cables that you are using.

Sounds like your video settings are wrong. Pull the power cord and when you plug it back in it will ask for new default video settings.

Do you turn it off from the back? Because if you do, it can brake easily like that. That would suck but it does say right after you do that not to do it when you turn it back on.

Certainly possible. Remember there is a hard power switch on the back. Might try flicking that off and letting it sit for a few minutes, then power back on.

Don't remember seeing anything about that. Course, I have only used the back switch once since first installing it.

It comes with new PS3 update. I use to that all the time but since I updated it gives me a message not to do that anymore because it could break so I stopped.

The only time I use the back switch is when my PS3 won't turn off by hitting the front button. This is the case when the game I am playing freezes. MW2 for example thanks to it's crappy servers freezes sometimes and the only way to turn off the system is to use the back switch.

never had the server freeze on me

but basically, I was on my main menu. Went to go play a PS1 classic game and that was it. Went to the soon to be loading stage but stayed in the blackened screen......

All you have to do in that situation is hold the "PS" button on the controller until it gives you about 4 options, one being "turn off system".

Have you tried a replacement hdmi cable? I've noticed that my cable gets really hot, and I imagine that it'll have to be replaced eventually. It's starting to get really loose from the heat blasting out the back of the hdmi port.

It's just your AV setting......hold the power button down until it beeps, then set your AV setting again.

have you changed the Video settings like..

take it to another TV that was 1080p?

if you set it to 1080p and take it back to a 720p tv it will not display.

Im gonna guess you have the same problem I had about 2 years ago. My HDMI port on the back of my TV went bad. I tried new cables, resetting the AV settings to no avail.

If it works on another TV and you can get it to work with the old school av cables then that is your problem.

If your like me, and thought of how bad it would suck to have a Blue Ray player/PS3 with no HD output, you go and buy the biggest baddest new TV you can. If this isn't an option for you if your TV is under 1 year old, likely you it will be covered by a manufacturer warranty. If you happen to have a Samsung, and its more than one year old, but under two they will extend your warranty if you complain enough.

    Good Luck

Oh lordie I hope not. I dont know either. I have 3 HDMI ports and it had the same issues. A port I didnt use before so wouldnt think anything was wrong with it.

Gonna try the whole reseting thing.

    *crosses fingers*
