Hey guys I just bought a PS3 today and Im hesitant to update it because of the things I've heard about the PS3 3.30 fail..and I was wondering if there was someway to download an update thats before 3.30 maybe at least 3.21 so I can play games?

PS. Whats with all the Dragon Age fan boys complaining about it? Is that the only game that it effects majorly?

I think they posted PS3 updates via PC downloads, so I guess if you could find an older one (e.g., 3.21), I suppose you could install that. Never tried it though, so no idea if it would work. And of course there's the problem of finding it (guess I was a lot of help).

I didn't even know there were any problems with 3.30 until this thread (always seems like every update is bricking systems though). But I didn't play Dragon's Age on it. Did watch some movies, play some PS2 games, and started 3D Dot Heroes without any issues though.

I'm kind of with RC. I haven't had any issues with updates. I don't even remember which one 3.3 was. Then again, I haven't played Dragon Age.

If you just bought it, and assuming that it's a brand new system, I'd update it whenever. If the firmware bricks it you'll be covered under warranty anyways.

I've had my PS3 for about two years now and am afraid to update it everytime, but I need it to get on PSN, so....fingers crossed!

If you plan on playing online, you have to update. I have an 80 GB model and haven't had problems with the updates.
