http://www.hotdealsclub.com/deal/50e88d88704137712b46b42125c2728f/ If this happens I'll be tempted to buy one. For those of you that have one and use the DVD capabilities, what do you think? Is it a decent DVD player? Are there any pros/cons?
I got my ps2 by telling my wife that we needed a DVD player. Oh and that i would want a ps2 if I could get one. Why dont we do both in one! the DVD has been good for me, I dont have a remote for it, but once you get the hang of the controls its pretty easy to use.
I have one with no remote also. I use the dvd player way more than the game player. It works just fine. Like IFVL said once you get used to the controls the remote is not really needed.
Funny you should ask about the remote. My stepson just bought one Saturday. I was a little upset after i looked at it. The Sony PS2 remote uses up the #2 controller slot. You also have to have a memory card to save the configuaration file for the remote to function. The remote comes with the configuaration DVD. I asked the sales rep if you could plug in both controllers while having the ir remote plugged in. She said yes. You can't. There are some other brands that will allow this, but not the PS2 remote. The remote itself is very functional. It's like a regular dvd remote. you don't have to hunt through the select screen. On the plus side, my ss uses the remote to play FF X.
Thats wierd Falcon. Mine doesnt take up any controller slots. Mine plugs in to the #1 controller slot, but there is a controller slot on the remote recepter so i can still use both controllers. And no **** with memory cards.
My picture color seems to mess up at times but its not that bad, still worth getting to watch dvd's with.
The DVD on my PS2 works fine, except sometimes about half way through a movie it gets what I call 'sound lag'. That's when the sound is a fraction of a second behind the actions/speach of a character. It gets annoying after a while, but if I hit pause and then play again it works fine. Anyone else have that problem?? Oh, and I heard there are some pretty cool games on PS2 as well....
My PS2 DVD Player works fine, except for a tiny little problem. My sister and her friends used it while I was at college and forgot the four number password for the parental settings on the player. If anyone here knows how to disable that function so that I can play my DVD's again, I'd greatoly appreciate it. Or do I need to buy a special remote?
Well guys, it's official! Sony has just dropped the price of the PlayStation 2 to $199! I for one am quite happy that it finally happened. LINK: http://www.gamers.com/news/1147215 I think there's a strong possibility that the Xbox will undergo a similar price drop in less than a month. Possibly GameCube (from $199 to $149) also.
How much is an X-box nowadays? I'm into sports games some fighting and some arcade but mainly sports games and i wanna play my DVDs Rocket River Halo is kewl . . on my friends machine
OK, now that the price drop has happened, I definitely want to get a PS2, even though I am a diehard Nintendo fan, but I have a few questions. 1) What accessories do you have to buy? In other words, do I have to get any cables, controllers, etc in addition to what comes in the box to make it work on my TV? I have component inputs but no S-video. 2) Do you HAVE to use the remote to play DVD's? or is that just an XBOX thing? 3) What games should I get besides NCAA 2003 and GTA3? 4) Anyone know where I can find that online list of DVD's that have problems with the PS2? I saw a link when the PS2 first came out. Has Sony addressed these problems?
Further Confirmation of Sony's price drop. They beat Microsoft to it even though Microsoft said they were gonna do it first... http://news.com.com/2100-1040-912973.html?legacy=cnet&tag=pt.msnbc.feed..ne_9894519 keeley - you stole my link! http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33394 XBOX Rules!
It comes with the cables you should need. RCA cables are included. I did however get a component cable( I bought an off brand for like 10 bucks) and it seemed to make the picture a little clearer. I would highly suggest a second controler and a memory card. As far as games it really depends on what you like. I enjoyed GTA3 and Madden and the NCAA football games were both nice. CK
I have NCAA Football 2k2-its awesome. I just recently bought Triple Play 2002 and its fun too. I played on pro-medium level with the Astros vs D Backs with Unit on the hill and I took Randy deep with Oswalt. Being the Giants is fun also as I played the Yankees at Yankee Stadium and won 15-10. Hitting like 8 hrs. HR Derby is cool too, with Bagwell i have a record of 45 hrs in the round. My next best is 23 or so. Also on the DVD, how much is the special remote?
