The law against prostitution is one of the biggest links between government and religion. There is no way it should be illegal. Legalize it. If certain people don't like it, then they can stay the hell away. The government should not be able to regulate sex lives. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
When I did debate in both HS and in college I ran a case to legalize prostitution. if you look at all the points it is kind of weird that it is ilegal. I do not personally support sex for money directly, however im sure that I have "paid" for it on other ways if anyone is interested in this topic I would be happy to debate it with you. if not debate, at lteas I could probably make you think ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
I have no problem with sex for money. It is the abusing women for sex that I think should be illegal.
forreal or Abusing women for money [i.e. the now form of prositution] Rocket River ------------------
I don't particularly like or support the sex trade. It is dangerous and degrading for those involved. However, the line that is drawn between prostitution and legal sex is pretty strange. There are plenty of women who sleep with men because they get gifts or a nice lifestyle in return. By the same token, there are plenty of men who know that they are trading rewards for sex. It's his money and her body. What's the difference? Men and women can pay to watch women and men having sex with other people. What's the difference? Men and women can pay to watch other men and women strip naked in front of them. What's the big deal? You can have sex for free as much as you want but as soon as money is exchanged, it becomes illegal? Wierd. ------------------ And then, depression set in...
What is the penalty for pimping exactly if you're caught? A couple of years in jail? ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel boy.
The only reason I can think of why it is illegal would be public safety. The ease of STD transmission and stuff like that. Other then that, much like the pot issue, I can't think of why it is illegal. ------------------ The ox is slow but the Earth is patient.
This is not a federal law, is it? Isn't prostitution legal in Nevada outside Las Vegas city limits? ------------------ President of the Anal Retentive School for Jerks Hey, I wanted to be president of something, and I swear everyone took every other presidential position already.
I'm sure there is some thought of that but it is actually far more dangerous and STD's are far more likely when it isn't regulated. Legalizing it would make it much safer, so I would think that shouldn't have an impact. I agree with you, however. I can't see a logical reason why. ------------------ And then, depression set in...
Yes, prostitution is legal in Nevada. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.

Yes this is a state issue. why is it illegal in you state, who knows. probably because of some puritan group that made some noise. it was a re-election year, and the politician decided to keep his job. the realities of prostitution: could be alot safer for the girls and boys who do it. could be a huge addition to the tax base. taxes gained from prostitution should be funneled into assisting the regulation as well as creating education programs. programs: job training as well as sex/health education sure there will be a black market if it is made legal, however this much smaller amount of prostitution would be MUCH easier to police. there would be more police free to take care of other things like drugs. abandoned storefronts would be rented out by brothels. yes in this corporate world, there would even be chains of brothels. like starfuks there are so many other positive things to legalizing, but I will refrain peace ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
VoR, since you debated it, what were the arguments made FOR keeping it illegally other than the whole your going to he11? I imagine you could get it overturned, but really who wants to champion the Legalize Prostitution campaign? Isn't there more important things to worry about? Plus you would be known as the jack@ss who has to pay to get some ------------------ Now this shirt is chafing me
If we legalized everything, imagine the money that would be saved with the elimination of all law enforcement and the department of corrections. Then we would no longer need to pay taxes, even if the government needed money, not paying your taxes would be legal. ------------------ "Of course, thats just my opinion, I could be wrong" -- Dennis Miller
I'm actually mostly for the legalization, but I think it naive to think that legalization and regulation is enough to break the abuse of the pimping system. If that's what you're worried about, prosecution is the answer. ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
We don't have to eliminate all laws. Just laws that deprive people of living as they choose. Its one thing to have laws for things that will hurt someone or something. Like murder or arson. Its quite another to have laws that infringe upon someone smoking a joint or riding a bike without a helmet or having a picnic in the nude. ------------------ Everything you do, effects everything that is.
Actually VOR you could apply pretty much all your points to the War on some Drugs. "could be alot safer for the girls and boys who do it." Government regulated! You bet they’d be safer "could be a huge addition to the tax base." NO doubt "taxes gained from drugs should be funneled into assisting the regulation as well as creating education programs. programs: job training as well as sex/health education" Just like alcohol But yes, it would apply just the same. "sure there will be a black market if it is made legal, however this much smaller amount of drugs would be MUCH easier to police. there would be more police free to take care of other things like drugs." Or murder or arson or or or... "abandoned storefronts would be rented out by brothels. yes in this corporate world, there would even be chains of brothels. like starfuks" or smoke and toke! Sorry to derail the thread, please carry on ------------------ Everything you do, effects everything that is.
