I need some advice. I don't know if I should buy an awesome used car or just go out and buy a new car. If I'm going to be putting thousands of dollars toward a car, I'd like to be putting it toward something thats going to last me a while... but on the other hand, if I get a used car, but I make sure its an awesome car (99' camry), then it would last me a while, and it'd be a hell of alot cheaper then buying a new car. Any suggestions guys?

Well the value of a new car will depreciate faster in the first couple years than that of a used car, so if you don't plan on keeping the car for a while then you're going to lose a higher percentage of the money you put in with a new car. I think a good option is to buy a 1 or 2 year old used car that still has part of the original manufacturer's warranty valid. I think the dealerships usually call these cars "pre-owned certified".

Would you be buying the used car straight up? Because for a lot of people buying a car for the first time, monthly payments and full coverage can be a bit hard to get used to. If you buy the car in full and own it outright, you only have to get liability insurance here in Texas and that's a significant amount less. But if you do go for used, I'd recommend getting a carfax.com membership and looking up the history of the vehicle.
