Go ahead and blast away after reading this, but what the Spurs have done the last 2 days deserves mention. Winning two double OT games back to back on the road (the 2nd one at hot Golden State) is an accomplishment few teams could dream of doing.

After playing 53 minutes in LA, Tony Parker plays 46 more the next night while scoring 35 points with 12 assists. They didn't have Tim Duncan either game and didn't have Nesterovich or Ginobilli at Golden State. This team has shown tremendous heart since Duncan went down (excluding the Dallas game) and my hat goes off to them.

After the Rockets, my 2nd favorite team in the playoffs is the Spurs. Except for Bowen (who I detest) that team has a bunch of good guys that represent the best of the NBA in teamwork and character. I also admire an organization that successfully deals with being located in one of the most unattractive cities for a major franchise. To overcome that, they draft smart, have been the most successful by far in scouting overseas (4/5 starters are non-American), trade smart and avoid mistakes in free agency (Brent Barry is still TBD).

I am a Rox fan to the core, but that doesn't preclude me from liking the Spurs some. It DOES preclude me from ever liking the Jazz or Lakers under ANY circumstances.

Sorry, the Jazz and Lakers are benign now that they both suck ass. Rooting for the Spurs under any circumstances other than improving the Rockets playoff position is a direct offense of the clutchfans bylaws article IX rule 2B, to which you agreed when you signed up for an account here, and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Your punishment for this offense will be to wear a Karl Malone jersey to each home game next season and to have "Kobe is GOD!" in your signature for the next six months.

Thank you, and have a good day...

Popovich is the guy I consider best coach in the NBA, hands down. And I don't mean that as in COY. He's just the best coach in the game, period. Handles himself well, too. You don't see him in the papers all the time like you do Larry Brown (or Phil when he was coaching).

I didn't like how he made himself coach several years ago, but he's proven himself several times over since then.

Yeah, I agree...the coach establishes the identity of the team, and even more so, when shorthanded, the coach is the primary person responsible for wins like this.

The punishment is way too severe. Can I just cut my hands off instead (so I can't type anymore)?

I enjoy the Spurs about as much as I enjoy a rectal exam

(just in case you are unsure, I'm really not ok with a rectal exam)

I like the Spurs okay. If it can't be Houston, at least make sure it stays in Texas.

Come on, man...We lead the Spurs in NBA titles 2 to 1.5...do we REALLY need them talking smack about having more championships than us?

Seriously though how can you not have respect for Duncan and Pop? They are classy as hell. And now Ginobili has come along. His enthusiasm and hustle on the court are very admirable. I hate to say it, but its hard not to have developed a respect for our rivals.

Let's see Popovich coach a season without Duncan.

I'll be routing against the Spurs versus any of the contenders. If the title is to a Texas team, and not Houston, I'd rather see it in Big D. What a group of pompous, ignorant, and girly-sounding fans (listen to their home games) the Spurs have. No way will I route for them, unless it is against a Kobe team (not in the playoffs, ha, ha), Karl Malone team (ditto), or Jazz team (ditto).

Used to despise Seattle with a passion, but Nate McMillan is the only conntection to the old pain in the ass Seattle teams and he was the most admirable of the lot.

So in sum, screw the Spurs and their girly fans. They haven't done crap except win the lotto a couple of years. Some could say this is somewhat true for us to, but at least we won it fair and square a couple of times through lucky bounces, they tanked to get theirs.

Yeah, the Spurs are my 2nd favorite team also. I have a lot of memories from Spurs games with my mother and my grandmother who recently passed away. I will always admire and respect the way Gregg Popovich got a team of nobodies to play so hard every game in 1997 when they were going nowhere, and they rewarded with the first pick in the draft, even though they were not the worst team in the league. I obviously want the Rockets to go all the way, but if the Rockets get eliminated, I will root for the other 2 Texas teams first, then the Pacers so Reggie could finally get a ring. So we'll see how it plays out, but yeah, the two double-overtime wins in a row is pretty impressive. And all the more odd that the last team to do it was Vancouver!

I have a hard time to hate the Spurs since Duncan is one of my favorite player. But I hate the Spurs fans with a passion. One of my neighbor grow up in San Antonio, and everytime we play the Spurs, he will walk around with his David Robinson jersey on. We got into a heated argument once because he believe David Robinson was a better player than the Dream.
