i know it's another T-Mac thread, but as i believe that our issue with McGrady is more about his personality i think that the whole staff's gotta work on that aspect to try to reinsert T-Mac in the team without considering himself as the best player. he should be one of our weapons, and i think because he probably will not return to his old all star caliber player(like Grant Hill), he should be resigned (if he accepts of course) and get less money may be for 2 more years this would allow us to keep T-Mac( of course if he does not spoil the chemistry), and get 2 other pieces including a center and wing so that with Yao we can be a real contender team what do you think guys?
been there done that. it didnt work when he was closer to his prime, and you think he would do us good if he is unable to return to his old all start caliber? and the big part that concerns me "if he does not spoil the chemistry and if he resigns". The rockets are struggling with inserting him in the offense as it is this year. i dont see how they could possibly want to resign him, unless it is for "dirt cheap". then you might roll the dice. I dont really know the point of this thread, but lets see how he plays this year before we start making drastic plans for the future.
He can be a Ricky Pierce, Eddie Johnson, Manu Ginobli type bench guy for us this year if he is willing to accept it. I would let Adelman mix and match to find the hot hand every game...
When and if he plays...I don't think the star mentality will be an issue. It will be more about his conditioning, going to the boards (we depend on out-rebounding our opp. in most games), and providing help defense (switching, recovering, etc..). I am more worried about how the team plays after a month or so with Tracy (if he continues to play). Also, I think we need a separate forum just for Tracy....too many threads about Tman already. Let him play a game and then let's discuss. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy every bit of what MY Rockets team is putting out there each night. I look forward to every game regardless of who they play. I could go all season without seeing Tman on the floor and still feel that I have received my money's worth as a season ticket holder. Hoping the best for McGrady but the guys busting their butts now are MY TEAM!
I remember McGrady's disappointment when Battier took (and made) a game winner against the Lakers (I think). He even commented on how bad of a shot it was after the game during an interview while Shane was right next to him. It would have been funny had it not been so hypocritical and sad. That and other antics of McGrady's makes me wonder if he is even capable of coming back and excepting that sometimes Aaron Brooks will initiate and/or finish plays to win the game. What if the final possession is dumping it down to Carl Landry in the post? How is McGrady going to deal with being just another one of five guys on the court instead of the "closer" he has always thought he was?
Check this post. I think the OP agrees with your conclusion. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=168495&page=1&pp=20 I don't. Frankly, I think you overlook the likelihood of subsequent injury with McGrady. Even if he comes back and plays great, he's got a lot of wear on his body and never has been a very durable guy. If you hitch your horse to Yao, you need your other players to have Scola-like durability. IMO the best likely solution is for him to get traded for a serviceable player with a bad contract and a good young player with a good contract. Or we could trade McGrady and Yao for most of Memphis and keep the best 12 players. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ybf88pu Regards,
I remember that post game interview. And I completely agree with questioning McGrady's ability to integrate himself physically and mentally
I dont know why people think this way, Mac is a team 1st guy, hes got his money, hes got his allstars, scoring titles, all the accolades, but he wants the ring, so he will do what is asked of him in order to get that ring. You guys know damn well , that many other superstars would be asking to be traded or going to the media, acting a fool on the bench (marbury) , but Tmac is patiently waiting for his turn, doing what the coach asks. The guy is a good man, he gives back to the community, to other countries, good family man, hes good for the city of houston and im not even in houston by the way. He will be back he will play well and will be great wether its off the bench or as a starter, i know he will, and if we trade him , we will regret it and all you Tmac haters will wish he was back. He shows up in the playoffs, and if you think Budinger is the answer off the bench, you are mistaken, hes a great prospect but has lots to learn, last night against the cavs was an example, so how tracy would hurt the team is insane, he only makes the team better. HOPE YOU COME BACK SOON TMAC AND PROVE ME RIGHT!!!
ok i've never posted before but the responses are so ridiculous that I can't help myself. why dont you guys watch the replay of that lakers game...tmac was the one who passed the ball to battier. he obviously wasn't expecting the ball back since there was only 3 seconds left on the clock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpSIos6XyVI and how many times have we seen him dish to yao on pick and roll in the closing seconds or pass out to a three point shooter with the game on the line. you say trade him, which is completely reasonable with all the drama he has caused the past year and his injury problems, and he might have been a little self-centered last year with the way he handled things. but dont call him selfish on the court because he is anything but. even bill simmons agrees and he bashes everyone.
Maybe you should continue to not post because first of all there was 5 seconds left on the clock when Battier received the pass. Second who in their right mind would shoot the ball while being double team while 25 feet away from the basket come on. The only problem I have with McGrady now that I really seen the replay was that im shocked he didn't pass it to Rafer. Good thing he didn't pass it to Yao because it would have probably resulted in a turnover. Steal or travel whatever. But it doesn't matter we won the game and thats all that matters.
can we just wait until the guy at least plays before trying to figure out what to do later on? Morey already said he will play, let's just wait. Some can say "trade mac", but if he comes out ballin they'll change their mind, same goes for the tmac fans if he comes out looking like crap. Just wait it out, can't be too long now..
