Convince him only to go to your prom. Super fun beats an alright time. A kick ass hotel beats somewhere around greenspoint. $500 beats $1000. Ya got nothin to lose.

prom is pretty overrated if you expect it to be 'the time of your life' as most people do. Our school newspaper editor-in-cheif wrote a hilarious staff editorial about prom that really sums it up in my opinion. If i werent in the middle of writing a paper on the heart of darkness, i'd post it...maybe later. Needless to say, it pissed a lot of girls off at our school.

Speaking from experience, unless you are really involved with whomever you go to prom with, it's really not worth it. I spent a large amount of money on a ticket ($60), dinner ($35), and then drove all over Orlando from my place to downtown to Disney to downtown and then back to my place...

I had a good time, but I probably could've spent my money and my time elsewhere in a better, "funner" fashion.

But if you are really serious/at least sorta serious about whomever you go with, it's probably worth it to go - money and relationship-wise. It may not be all it's cracked up to be, but it'll definately be fun.

    i went to two proms.
one for mine (all guys school)
one for hers (all girls school)
mine. i sat upstairs for about an hour, then left. i hated everyone in my class.
hers. i threw ice from the balcony as cars passed by, with a friend of mine.
if you like the people in your class, and you have alot of friends. itll be fun. i only went because my God damned girlfriend thought it would be fun to dress up.
but i mean. i guess its cool to say you went to your ****ing prom.
you can tell your ****ing kids.

Overrated? I don't know because I didn't go to mine. But I seriously doubt that it's worth more than ten bucks(which is like 1/20 of what one'll actually cost you).

Just go to a party or something if you want to dance and be with your friends. It's free, and you don't have to shell out silly amounts of money for a tux or dress(or limo, or corsage, or tickets, etc., etc., etc...)

My buddy and I took his Dad's company's 8 Astro season tickets behind first base. We kept two to enter the game and sold the other 6 to fund refreshments.

it's all about who you go with...

the "love of my life" at the time and I had just broken up...i went with a friend who had a crush on me, but whom i wasn't all that interested in. it was mildly uncomfortable...and i honestly wished i could have been there with my ex...kinda sad, actually.

but i'm sure you'll have fun!!! :D i don't mean to be a downer...this was just my experience...

once again, i quote the illustrious (is that a word) dave matthews:

"turns out not where but who you're with that really matters!"
(second time i've quoted that line here today -- this and the Brian Fellows bit are probably getting a little old to the rest of you!)

I didn't go to my prom because I got into a big car wreck a month before and it ate up all of my $$$$.

Nearly 25 years later, I haven't seen any adverse effects from not going to the prom, except for that weird twitch I have...

I went to about 3 or 4 of them...can't remember all of them, but mine was a blast.

The girl I was dating at the time was an airhead but was beautiful, so we had a great time. We broke up that summer, and then about 3 years later while I was in college I got a call from my mom.

She said, and this was a weird conversation " Have you seen the Madonna PENTHOUSE issue?" and I was like.... "What? is this my mom?" I said "No".

She said that my former prom date and ex girlfriend was in the magazine.

Sure enough...Suzy Shephard was in the issue, and better yet....WITH ANOTHER GIRL ....ah man prom could have been that much better!!!!

Needless to say, I dusted off my old prom picture and put it out along with the penthouse for all my Frat brother to see.

    Man, that was fun !!

Yeah, I'd do it then....though maybe two is a little excessive. I hate to say it from my POV, but sometimes us guys can be persuaded to do what we don't want to do...if you really don't care for his prom, then try to persuade him (again?) to just go to yours....he may not know as many people there, but the atmosphere for you both might be better.

DM, is your prom located on 2001 Post Oak Blvd?

And, also, if you take a vehicle, you park on the garage on the left, and the doorway to the hotel will lead you to the room.

okay we went to his prom on friday and...

it was pretty kickass. the only thing that wasnt very cool (at first) was that they played rap 99.9% of the time. they played about 4 or 5 slow songs 3 tejano songs and 1,000 rap songs, but thats okay. it was Eisenhower's prom and our table was all white guys + latin girls and none of us knew how to do those rapper dancing moves, but we all got up and decided to learn. it was pretty fun.

one thing did SUCK was project prom.
if you werent a senior @ that school you didnt get to do anything! thats okay i just feel asleep here and there most of the time until 6 IN THE FREAKING MORNING.

    my final thought:

mine is going to be the most super awesome! :)
