Have you tried to disable "instant messaging" from the outlook express? I use Microsoft Outlook, the instant messaging can be disabled from Tools|Options|Others.., not sure if Outlook Express works the same way.

About 3 weeks ago, my OE (which is the WORST mail program, but only one I have besides Netscape and the Netscape e-mail sucks:() suddenly took like 5 minutes to load. Like I would click on it and it would not do anything. Then it would kind of show the template of the inbox, but would 'freeze'. I could still use the internet and all, but it would stall. It goes into another phase where it finally works. I can't explain it, but it all of a sudden occured and hasn't stopped. No explanation. Anybody have an idea?

the only time I have sene something like this that wasnt related to corrupted files was when the file that stores all the messages was on a remote server.

I doubt that is yalls problems...

sometimes, if you are lucky..a upgrade of OE or even doing a repair from the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel may do the trick...

but can I beg of both of you to get a different email program?

OE is the absolute worst program inexistence.

here is a list of dang near every email client out there...surely one of these would be better.

THANK YOU!!! I've been waiting to find a much better one as people tell me the same thing without naming specifics. Which is the best of those? Which do you use?

well...Im lazy...I havent bothered to setup anything new...

I use Outlook(not Express)...it is more stable than OE and the newer updated version isnt as suseptible to crashes and virii when properly configured.

I used to use Eudora...and found it to be pretty good..and I have heard good things about Incredimail

Honestly....as bad as OE is...you couldnt go wrong using just about anything else. ;)

    I second Thunderbird.

Their spam logic is pretty tight, and after a week I no longer got any junk mail. Just be sure to check your junk mail folder for the first month or so in case any e-mails you want make their way in there. After moving them to your inbox, e-mails from that sender will no longer be considered junk.
