"A Prince serving on the front line. That's uniquely American." - W

Seriously, though. That's awesome. His bravery is to be commended.

Good for him but I think the reason why the story was censored was that if it was widely known he was on the front lines he would become a huge target for the enemy. I recall in an earlier debate regarding if he should serve in Iraq that the British military were concerned about the potential flack of royalty getting killed in an unpopular war but also that all the attention might put him and his troops at more risk.

Yeah - this is something that should have stayed voluntarily censored. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Britain has a lot fewer press freedom laws than the US, I wonder if they will come down on Drudge.

The Brits better pull him out for his safety and the men of his unit. Whatever unit he is with is going to become a bullet magnet real soon.

I don't understand why this is news if he's not endorsing McCain or Obama.

Sometimes freedom of the press can get out of hand.

This was clearly leaked to Drudge for a reason. What better way to get the Prince home? He returns home a hero with military bona fides and worldwide respect. These things don't just happen.

I agree with everyone that its extremely admirable for this kid to be over there, and I agree with everyone that its dangerous that its in the news. but unfortunately this is one of those situation where you take the good with the bad. these kids have gotten press their whole lives because of the family they're born into. its not going to stop now unfortunately.

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas Jefferson

I agree that Drudge should have honored the British government's requested self-censorship, but some of the press outlets over there are really happy that he broke it.

That goes well with his comments before he left.

    Still, he's coming home: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/feedarticle/7348222
