Drew Carey seem ecstatic, doesn't he?
ummm the nonchalant way that drew announced the price and declared the feat makes me feel that someone told him to say the bidder's exact amount
god i'm glad i don't watch the show anymore. maybe it's cause we're sports fans...but i need some excitement with that
Dude, I SAW THIS EP and I wa flabbergasted for over an hour. If he was off by $5 or even $1, I'd find it more believable. But to get it on the money makes me wonder: 1. Whether Drew Carey fudged it and the real bid was w/in $10 or so 2. The dude watches the show religiously and an quote things to the single digit dollar 3. The dude cheated. The fact that he got the contestant's row bid right on the money seems more than coincidental to me too. I dunno. Did he cheat? Sadly, the fact that he said he was from Vegas made me raise an eyebrow. suspiciousSAGE
Wow. If i was that lady, I'd be very suspicious of that. And, yeah, Drew Carey is not very exciting. It's too bad John O'Hurley is contracted to Family Feud - he'd be perfect for The Price is Right.
Saw this on another board. Apparently when the show producers saw that his bid was on the nose they stopped the taping for like an hour to go back over the tape to see if they could detect him cheating somehow. They couldn't, Drew came back out to finish the taping. Hence Carey's lack of enthusiasm. Seems suspiscious to me, but if they can't prove anything I guess it has to stand.
You could tell when he laughed as he was saying the bid number that he was just in shock that the dude got it right... like, it was unbelievable... so coincidental it was funny. Amazing.
I still don't understand how he had help from someone in the audience. They said that a random audience member memorized the prices or something, but how did THAT audience member find out what the prices were? Is that implying that someone who WORKS for TPIR is a leak, and told an audience member what the prices would be, and then helped these people cheat? So then does that also imply that the whole choosing process of who actually gets on the show was also rigged? It all does seem kinda fishy to me, and Drew's reaction suggests that he knew something was up, and he was kinda upset by it.
If it's all legit, then I can believe it. I mean, you'd think after all these shows there's bound to be one or two on the nose bids. Sucks for the lady though, great bid.
I started watching the video expecting to see Bob Barker and instead I got an unexcited and lame Drew Carey. I forgot he was hosting...
I don't know about the Showcase Showdown, but the guy said that he does watch the show religiously and had seen the smoker grill, the item he bid correctly on after he got called down, on the show a few weeks before and he remembered the price.
I saw this one, i just came back from exams early. I went nuts when i saw it. I immediately went to wikipedia right after this, and saw it was already updated, and hasnt happened since 1970 or something. And the way he initially bid was crazy, like not even calculating in his head, automatic.
I feel bad for the lady. $494 off and she still loses? That's usually enough to get the job done. BTW, Drew Carey could have made the moment much more exciting and intense. He could have prolonged it or something. He barely even appeared surprised.
The show has never been the same since Bob Barker died. I think the police from Slumdog Millionaire need to investigate this fella.
Itd also be hard to believe someone actually memorized the prices, cause they arent accurate to real msrps. I watched yesterday with my cousin, and one of the beginning items was 2 ipods and 3 ipod nanos. The "actual retail price" was like 1300$ which is ridiculously overpriced.
