Anyone who wants to listen to the new album before it is released, follow the link below. I was going to put this in the old thread, but without the search function, I didn't want to spend alot of time looking for it. Here you go:

    *sigh*

Well, I heard it and even though the critics said it would be more like Pinkerton than the Green Album, I have to disagree. To me, it sounds like The Green Album II. All the songs kind of run together. Nothing really sticks out like ALL the songs on The Blue Album did.

I don't know, it's just missing something. I'm starting to wonder if Matt Sharp (original bass player) had more of an influence on Rivers song writing than people originally thought because they just haven't been the same since he left. There's just no Weezeresque catchy melodies like Blue and Pink had. No falsetto vocals (which Matt did) that gave them 'their' sound. No guitar feedback. Just nothing that made Weezer Weezer.

Of course, I was listening to it last night while watching Game 6 but even still. It just sounded bland and watered down. It doesn't sound like Rivers put a lot of thought into the songwriting.

Maybe it's not fair to compare it to Blue and Pink but overall, I'm disappointed. Maybe it will grow on me. But that's the same thing I said about Green and Maladroit....and I'm still waiting.

    2 out of 5 stars. :(

Maladroit's by far my favorite Weezer album. I think they're all great, though.
