Press Conference Today — Deke Signing

i'm guessing that since we just now signed deke, we are done with FA signings and will look into trades. CD has done an amazing job in the offseason.

I really dont see us signing Finley or SPree....but I wouldnt be surprised if we still made that rumored trade.

This was said earlier in the week(about Deke)...glad it is happening like they said...on Friday.

Two years -- that means he'll be 53 when the contract ends.

 

I hope they get Yao's extention done, just so we can stop hearing about how all these other teams are going to take a run at him next year

 

I hear you on that one, I have buddy in LA, and all he talks about is how Yao is going to be a Laker.

 

I really don't understand Laker fans.

First, for liking the team at all. If you're from LA, fine; be a Lakers fan.

If you're from elsewhere, then you just want a glamour bandwagon to ride.

And the fact that Lakers fans are so sure of themselves that they'll land Yao? They just don't know the guy. Or would care to listen to an explanation about how Yao is humble and loyal and doesn't crave the media glare; and why would he want to play with Ko-b****?

 

There is one type of Lakers fan I understand and that is the type that loved the team when Magic was there. That was a great time in basketball.

They already had it. Deke was on 610am about 30 minutes ago.

Agree completely! I was a Showtime fan in the 80s except when they played the Rockets. My boss (a Left Coast guy) was a huge Magic, Kareem & Chick Hearne fan that can't relate to the current regime at all any more.

 

What is the figure for Deke's deal and how do we stand with the lux tax?

 

51 million over 3 years with a four year player option for 19 million. So, 16,17,18 and possibly 19 if Deke wants to play one more year. My sources are creative.
