I just pre ordered a copy today. I'm dropping my nearly 4 year investment into Propellerhead's Reason 4.0 and 2+ years of learning FL Studio 8 XXL in favor of this work station. This DAW looks like it could easily kill weaker interfaces like FL Studio, Reaper, Reaktor, and maybe even Cubase. Some of the intergrated features might even challenge Logic. a few screen shots. I prefer EnergyXT to any other sequencing software. It's light on resources and has most of the options I look for. I'm also wary of any DAW software that has proprietary hardware - give me a decent audiocard and let me choose my software by myself.
seems like everyone makes their music with software nowadays...i need to get with the times...i bought reason 4.0 like 4 months ago and still havent even used it once.. this presonus looks kinda complicated ...
hmm, not sure what you are getting at here, but Presonus S1 is compatible with any windows/mac soundcard and any ASIO driver. from the presonus website: HIGH-END AUDIO ENGINE Studio One is based on a cutting-edge audio engine that delivers unparalleled sound and automatically switches between 32-bit and 64-bit floating-point processing on the fly (even with a 32-bit OS), ensuring the highest quality audio at all times. COMPATIBLE AND EASY TO CONFIGURE Studio One is compatible with any ASIO-, Windows Audio-, or CoreAudio-compliant audio interface, including, of course, the entire line of PreSonus interfaces. Studio One recognizes your PreSonus interface, and preprogrammed templates automatically create software inputs and assign them to the appropriate hardware inputs on your PreSonus interface. You don’t have to configure your software to work with your hardware—Studio One does it for you!” Studio One stores I/O configurations with each song, for each computer, and for each device driver. As a result, you can take a song to a friend’s studio, use Studio One with their interface, and when you get back to your studio, Studio One will recall the original I/O configuration for the song, as if you never left. This works regardless of interface. Besides, Digidesign has proprietary hardware and their interface Pro-Tools is the industry standard for recording and mixing professionals, and unlike Pro-Tools, no hardware is NEEDED to run Studio One, however it WILL support any Presonus hardware you have.
on the contrary, it's looks amazingly simple. If you think this is complicated then just throw Reason out the window and start practicing on Audacity.
Im very impatient...i do want to learn how to learn how to use reason but i cant figure out how to make it work with my studio monitors instead of my laptop speakers. sounbds so weak on the laptop speakers so i dont even bother trying to use it anymore. do you have a myspace or site where i can hear your music?
I'm interested in test driving it out. I've used Cubase, now I'm using Logic w/ Reason rewired. They both (Cubase & Logic) have their advantages and disadvantages. If this can combine the two, I'll switch. I'm also looking forward to playing w/ Record (by Propellerheads). It looks really fun and easy to use. Of course they made Reason so I wouldn't expect anything less. But I can't give up my 3rd party plugins and synths so I won't ditch a 'traditional' DAW anytime soon.
