With the election campaigns now lasting 2 years or longer. (Obama officially declared on February 10, 2007) would it be wise to extend the term to 6 years? Afterall if there is a real disaster in office there would still be an impeachment option.

This could also allow us to do away with the pressure of decision making with respect to killing reelection ability.

Could also possibly save money we blow on elections. Hillary and Obama spent 221 million and McCain spent 41 million. Seems like this is likely to go up in the future.

I cannot decide if something like this passes would Obama get a 2nd term of 4 years or 6 years? Term limits didn't apply to FDR so I guess 4 years?

Could you imagine 12 years of bush? 12 years of Obama? Between those two and their spending spree, we would see the nation completely bankrupt.

But no thanks, 8 years of one president is too much as it is.

    I meant 1 term. Not 2 terms.

I think that the 2008 campaign starting so early was an anomaly. The nation as a whole was so tired of the Bush Administration that the campaign was a breath of fresh air.

I seriously doubt it. You cannot go a week without hearing who the republican will be for 2012.
